Created by Hand -Back to School

Back to School is the theme for CBH challenge this week. This 4x4 has a typewriter stamp (SU), a picture from an old magazine, and various words I wrote. The background was made by spraying mica mists onto my work surface and then laying the card stock face down onto it. I like this picture because the kids look like they are enjoying school.

A  posterized rendition of this can be seen on my Adventures in Art blog.

TMTA - Marilyn Monroe

I used Marilyn's picture for last week's Think Monday Think ATC so I am just reusing her photo with a different background. The background for this ATC is one that I had previously made using wax resist technique. I don't remember who showed us how to do this but I used wax paper, a cuttlebug folder and cardstock that was misted with homemade mica mists.

Tag It On! - Bookmark

Tag it on has an unusual tag for us today, a bookmark. I've made this one from cardstock sprayed with homemade mica mists and some Moon Shadow Gossamer Gold and Landlubber's Green mists.  The stamps I used are from the Hearts and Love collection. I stamped in clear ink and embossed in fine gold EP. Blogspot just wouldn't make this image larger, so please click on image to see the gold embossing.

One Stop - cute and cuddly

This is not my normal territory, cute and cuddly, but I wanted to do something this weekend before I have to go clean the house.

Cute and Cuddly is the theme of One Stop Craft Challenge this week. I have this little angel stamp and a mouse stamp. I thought this was more cuddly than a mouse. The background is one I created with some stamps. The butterfly is one that I managed to put into a digital art folder on my computer.

Art Creations Friday - Swan Lake

This  entry to the Art Creations Friday challenge, Swan Lake, is done on a wallpaper I made by tiling one of my personal photos of some Stargazer lilies and other flowers. I also altered the colors in the photo. The frame is thanks to Graphics Fairy.

Colour Create

Colour Create's theme this week is the use of the three colors: ruby, cream, and gold.

This started out as a piece of cardstock on which I pounded some flower petals and leaves. I put the scan of the original on my computer for use as backgrounds. I hope it is ruby enough.  The gold has been added digitally, so it's not really metallic gold, but it is a nice gold color, I think.

Anyway, the text comes from 1 Corinthians 13.

The Three Muses and WS

This is a photo, printed as a transparency, of two of my favorite "people". My granddaughter and my dog were best of pals, as seen by the hand petting the dog. The granddaughter is now away at college and the precious lab has died, so I am so missing them both. The butterfly stamp is one I've had quite a while. The bird and the swirl stamps are from a set of clear stamps I just bought.

The theme for The Three Muses is "Give us a Hand!" The theme for Wednesday Stamper is "Dogs."

SaWo - mica tiles

Using mica tiles is the challenge for Saturday's Workout. I have some "found" mica I picked up out in the countryside several years ago, so I used it to go over the word Dream on this card. The background is mica mists on textured paper. The "writing" is done with a cuttlebug folder. I dipped the paper in some of the same mists.

Art Creations Friday

This lovely canvas was given to us by Art Creations Friday. I flipped it 180° and added some Dover images, plus a few Photoshop Elements brushes from Brusheezy.

Theme Thursday - Seasons

I love the springtime when everything begins to wake up after the winter's sleep. It's a time of renewal. All of these images came from the Dover Publications freebies. See the other entries for this week's Theme Thursday.

Paper Minutes - Women

Paper Minutes' theme is Women. Here is a card from a background I had made with Moonglow Starburst inks and some spray inks on yellow card stock. The woman is from a magazine.

Butterfly Shadows - The 3 Muses

The Three Muses challenge this week is to create some art with wings in it - Things with Wings. I used a background I had made with a cuttlebug folder and various mists and sprays, a png clip I had of some magnolias (Dover???), and a butterfly brush that came with my Photoshop Elements.

Gothic Arches - Little Boys

This darling picture of my husband and his big brother is what I thought of when I learned the theme for Gothic Arches was Little Boys.

Art Creations Friday

Here is my digital ATC for Art Creations Friday. The writing is a brush from Obsidian Dawn; the house is one of Dover freebies. The beautiful woman is the image furnished by ACF for us to use this week.

Hats

Miss Sallie Rhea.

Miss Rhea, a schoolmarm, left home at dawn to sweep the floor and build a fire in the pot-bellied stove in her one-room schoolhouse. She never left home without proper attire, meaning she always wore her hat and gloves.

This is my entry for The Three Muses, where the theme is Hats.

I have used brushes from Brusheezy for this Photoshop produced art. The misty background can be found here. The trees are found here. Miss Sallie Rhea is one of my ancestors and I don't believe she was really a teacher.

SaWo - Textured Background

Textured Background is the theme for Saturday's Workout. This 5x7 canvas board was slathered with white acrylics paint. While it was still wet, I stamped a few of my stamps into the paint and made a few random marks. After drying for about 16 or 17 hours, I discovered it was still gooey in spots, so I used the heat gun on it. The next step was applying the several brown tones of acrylics paint and wiping off most of it. I decided to finish it off with the RAK (Hearts and Love stamps) I received from Louise of Tag Tuesday. I sealed this with a clear gloss acrylics sealer.

RAK from Louise and about Paper Folding

Here is the wonderful RAK I received from Louise on her Tag Tuesday challenge. These stamps are so gorgeous and I just can't say enough thank you's. I am going to enjoy making cards with this beautiful gift.

My sister has a blog now. She's making really pretty cards but she's not entering the challenges. One of the things she does is paper folding. Go check out her card HERE and leave her a comment. It would make her day! Thanks and have a super weekend, everyone.

Art in the Round - 3 Muses

The Three Muses' theme this week is Art in the Round. I took this lily/circle image from Dover Publications freebies, turned it 45° and made a quilt from the double images. I don't know how to tile so each one was moved separately.

Paper Minutes - Tag Tuesday

Tag Tuesday's theme is Summer Flowers, which fits in nicely with Paper Minutes' theme of green, yellow, and white.

Gothic Arches - childhood toys

For Gothic Arches this week we are to use a childhood toy. This one was before my time, for sure. Dover Publications is the source of my images.

Colour Create and One Stop

This 4x4 card was done for Colour Create Challenge (pink, orange, and green) and One Stop (pearls and swirls).

I started out with a lime green card and tried unsuccessfully to do a vaseline resist on it. I wound up with the 3 colors for CCCC. So I then added 3 beads and the swirls along with my stamped flowers. The bandana effect and the pearlizing of the beads was done digitally. I thought it needed the white outline and I had no pearl beads to stick onto the card. Hope this is o.k.
