The 3 Muses - Art in the Round

The theme for The Three Muses challenge this week is art in the round. I decided to go with only stuff that I had created myself as my design elements. Everything had been stored in my computer to use.

The background was a collage I made with paint, gesso, scraps of papers, etc. The aqua rectangle was a background I had created with paints and sprays. The image of the wildflowers was stamped onto another background I had made. The butterfly is a png image I made from a photo of my butterfly suncatcher

The 3 Muses - Paper Minutes Challenges

I made this card today for The Three Muses challenge (outside the frame - birds or other). I have my brown framed card sitting on a turquoise cardstock in order to photograph it. The butterfly is attached only on the body.

I am also entering this in the Paper Minutes challenge (colors of orange, turquoise, brown).

I will permanently back my card face to the turquoise before sending it on to someone as a greetings card.

Since everyone else did digital, I made mine into a digital too.

Animal Kingdom - the 3 Muses

In my entry for The Three Muses - Animal World I used a watercolor background I did some time ago. The hummingbird is a pastel painting I had made into a png. Some of the other images are Dover and Dezinaworld.

Just noticed as I was looking around at the other entries that I misread the alter part. I just altered the whole watercolor painting, not the animals themselves. Sorry, my entry is not in compliance.

My entry for the Three Muses is made using some images I have saved on my computer.

Squares and Circles - The 3 Muses

My entry for Circles and Squares for the Three Muses Challenge started with the background from Dezinaworld. The dill png is one I made from a photo I made of my dill plant. The gold circle with the flower is also a png I made from a stamping I had done using a craft foam stamp (not one I cut). This entry is all digital.

The 3 Muses - Jars and Bottles

I know that this is weird for me, but I wanted to use my Stubby Stampers jars and bottles stamp for the 3 Muses challenge this week. I also wanted to use the shave cream/ink background I had made last week. The tall bottle is from Dover Publications.

Hats! - the 3 Muses Challenge

Hats is the theme for the Three Muses Challenge this week. This is a photo of my mother (or my grandmother). I would really appreciate it if someone knowledgeable about vintage styles would tell me about what year this type of hat was worn. That way I could maybe figure out who it is in my picture.

I also have a picture of Mrs. Sallie Rhea, an ancestor on my father's side. Her hat looks like a fruit bowl.

The 3 Muses - Oriental

My entry for the 3 Muses challenge is a real paper card (as opposed to the digital ones that I often make). I used "candy" that Frankie sent me about a year ago as a drawing prize on her challenge. Everything on this card is from her except for the background I made with distress inks. (Except that the stamp for the butterflies was also sent to me by Frankie.)

The 3 Muses - 1920s

Finally after about 4 hours on the phone today with tech people, my dh has finally gotten my computer back online. Yay!!!

While I was stranded away from the net, I worked with Photoshop Elements and did this digital collage for the Three Muses. The images all came from Dover Publications. Granny came from a vignette sheet of 1920s women.

Pink-Green Tag and Written Word

Sorry my background turned out almost the same color as the tag. Pink and green tag is my entry for Tag Tuesday. The words are for The Three Muses.

I found this kit by Paper Bliss that had green. I made the flower and added a few things to the tag. I loved that it had definitions so it qualified for written word. Plus I added the sentiment: memories.

TIO and The Three Muses

The 3 Muses is celebrating its 2nd birthday and to celebrate we are making something with blue on it.  Tag it On is having its theme: fish (with a lovely tag by Janet as its inspiration piece).

Looks like everyone is ready to go off to the seaside. Lots of themes are of fish, under the sea, etc. My background is made with gesso and SU Ballet blue ink plus a little of blue ink from the office supply store. The stamps are Rubber Stampede and Embossing Arts. Coloring is Prismacolor pencils.

The Three Muses - Eggs

A little fantasy piece for The Three Muses (eggs) done with images from Dover plus somewhere else. I don't know where the little girl and the basket of eggs came from. If you know, please post it in the comments section.

Three Muses - Underwear

The Three Muses' theme this week is Underwear. I thought of those waist whittlers of yore and remembered that I had an image of a corset. This is a Dover freebie. The woman image is from Nicecrane Designs.

The 3 Muses - Victorian Elegance

This is my ancestor Pearl, who died in her early 20s. I don't know the cause of death, but it was a time when many died of such things as yellow fever and influenza.

The frame is from Dover.

This is my entry for The Three Muses.

E is for Easter or Equinox (vernal)

Dezinaworld's beautiful freebies, the background and the eye chart, today have inspired me to use them in today's challenges. The beautiful woman was from Jeanette's So Artful challenge. The stamp of spring flowers is from Purple Onion.

Wednesday Stamper is to pick a letter of the alphabet.
The Three Muses is to use something to say Spring.

The 3 Muses - Ancestors

The Three Muses' challenge is ancestors.
This is my mother. The background of the card is various mica sprays, mostly homemade.

The Three Muses - Hot Hot Hot

This is NOT really a picture of the Yellowstone National Park fire of 1988. This is some photoshopping using the Gradient tool and a photo of my front yard.

My husband and I were staying in West Yellowstone during the fires. We were allowed to go into some parts of the park during the day. At night we saw skies that were just like this scene. The red skies were awesome and frightening. The snows of early September eventually stopped the fires..

About 1.2 million acres were scorched; 793,000 acres were burned; 25,000 firemen were engaged in fighting the fire. No one died of burns. Two firefighters died. One was killed by a falling tree and one died while piloting one of the planes used in the firefighting.

The 3 Muses theme is "Hot Hot Hot".

The 3 Muses - Quotation

My quotation for the Three Muses Challenge this week is "Birds of a feather flock together". I think this is true with humans as well as with birds. I know I feel more comfortable with like-minded people. Maybe that's why these art challenges work so well.

The background is one of mica sprays. The birds came from Dezinaworld. The trees and the edging are from Annika von Holdt's digital brushes.

The 3 Muses - Nature's Creatures

The 3 Muses challenge for this week is Nature's Creatures. This is a pastel painting I made a few years ago. The custom watermark is from Doodle Pantry.
