You are what you eat

This is a real stretch for me, bloggers. All these fruits and veggies came from Dover except for the olives which were googled. The 3 Muses challenge is: You are what you eat.

Tag Tuesday - collage and stickers

Louise wants us to use collage with some stickers on our tags for Tag Tuesday this week. I am using a strip of hearts sticker and some scraps from a book page and some music, all RAK from Rosie of Devon. The other stickers are from the freebies that charities send out.  The frame is from an old card.

TMTA - Bud/Blooms

Here is my Think Monday Think ATC entry for this week. I am using this new calla lily file I received from Stef's Etsy shop as a prize drawing on Jeanette's SoArtful challenge. The girl stamp is one I got from Stubby Stamper. The background is one I made from mica mists.

So Artful - Frame

This gorgeous frame was furnished as our "jumping off point" for the SoArtful challenge this week. The background seemed a natural. I had just gotten it from Art Creations Friday and it sure looked like it matched to me. finding the image for the focus was also pretty easy. I had just found this lovely lass in green as a freebie on Terri's blog and thought how great she'd look in the beautiful frame.

Thanks, Jeanette, I am thrilled to be the March challenges winner of the prize.

4x4 Friday (Artisans) and ACF background

Using the background supplied by Art Creations Friday, I have made this digital piece also for 4x4 Friday whose theme was Artisans.

I don't remember where this image came from. It was a black and white sketch. It shows a woman handling a basket of various yarns. I figure anyone who creates with yarn is an artisan.

Garden Pastels

This 2"x4" piece was done with 3 challenges in mind:

In my garden I see... - Rainbow Lady
Pastels - Colour Create
2x4 size - Theme Thursday

My background was white cardstock that I sprayed and sponged with pastel mica mists. I stamped it with my favorite flower stamp. Then on another piece of white cardstock I stamped the two butterflies and the dragonfly. All three were treated with clear stamp pad and kaleidoscope embossing powder, giving them beautiful shimmery pastel wings. Their antenna are wire and all three are raised on foam dots (thus a few strange shadows).

Spring - Wednesday Stamper

Spring is the theme for Wednesday Stamper this week. I made this piece last night digitally, except for the large flower. So to conform to the Wednesday Stamper requirement of using at least one real stamp, I have printed it out onto glossy photo paper and stamped with my favorite flower stamp. I then colored the flower with my Marvy Le Plume markers.

The background started off with a single group of flowers, an image from Karen's Images. I doubled it, flipped it horizontally and vertically. I then made it into a digital pattern and used it all over for the background. The lovely girl was used for another earlier challenge, but I can't remember whose it was. Can anyone help me remember?

Tag Tuesday - Black and White only

Louise at Tag Tuesday has presented us with quite a challenge today, to use only black and white on our tags.

My tag started as a white watercolor paper onto which I stamped some of my new See D's clear stamps in archival black ink. I also used the same ink for the plastic mesh. The white rectangle with the letter F (for Fly or maybe Faye) was one of the lids (Friday) for my pills containers. Several lids broke so I saved them to see if I could use them. Does anyone else save these strange pieces of junk?

The results look more gray than white, due to the thickness of the lid, but I thought the scrap of lace turned out nicely. Louise, please give us an easier challenge next week. Black and white only is harder to do than I had imagined.

In a Row ATC - TMTA

In a Row is the theme for Think Monday Think ATC.

Millicent, Florence, and Agatha are on a world tour. They came across this magnificent castle where all the towers seemed to be in a row, so they asked one of the locals to snap their picture in front of it. Thank you, ladies, for providing me with material for this week's challenge.

Art Cards Challenge - Using Teykol

Art Cards Challenge this week is for us to use Teykol in our art. I had never heard of Teykol and was happy to see we could use napkin podge instead. However, I didn't even know napkin podge existed. I do have modge podge so that is what I used.

First I stamped in StaZon the flourishes, a stamp by Purple Onion Designs. Then I dipped a brush into the modge podge and painted around some of the swirls. Next I dabbed on a rich periwinkle blue dye ink and wiped off the excess. The tulips stamp is by D.O.T.S. and was colored with my Marvy markers.. The text is from a stamp sent to me by the amazing Rosie.

Tag it On! - Floral Bug

This week's theme for Tag it On is to use a bug and flowers in our tag design, making use of at least one real stamp. I have stamped my calla lilies and butterfly in clear embossing ink and embossed it in gold. The background is the very lovely freebie from Beth, which I learned about from Jacqueline.

Tag Tuesday - Spring

Nothing says spring as much as Green, so I made this tag for Tag Tuesday (Spring) with a green resist background and some collage elements. One of them is a scrap of an alcohol inked background I had done. The other is a bunch of flowers I colored with my Marvy markers. I thought "Live" was a good text to use. Everything is coming back to life because winter is over (we hope).

Edit: I just removed that bright green paper from behind the tag and the tag looks so much better now.

4x4 Friday - Words of Wisdom

My entry for 4x4 Friday has some words of wisdom from the best-loved cowboy of old times (my opinion), John Wayne. He  says: "Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway."

Art Cards Challenge - Writing

The challenge at Art Cards this week is Everything About Writing. I have used the hand and the pen flourished bird from Graphics Fairy.

Mother's Day - Rainbow Lady

Rainbow Lady's Challenge blog theme this week is Mother's Day. That day isn't until May in the States, but really, now, shouldn't every day be mother's day? My image came from Belinda. I think the love shown in the picture says it all.

Doodling

This ATC was doodled while watching/listening to Family Feud on TV tonight. I used my Prismacolor pencils and a very fine black pen. The stamps are the dark green flourishes and the "togetherness". Wednesday Stamper's theme is Doodling, something I make all the time.

This gothic arch-shaped tag was done for three challenges: Crazy Amigo Challenge (Swirls), Tag Tuesday (arch),, and Created by Hand (You Go Girl).

TMTA - Metal

This week's Think Monday Think ATCs theme is: Metal. We are to use metal in our ATC art. These two ATCs started as beige card stock which I stamped with Archival brown and black inks, using a couple of my hand carved stamps. The metal on them is HVAC metal tape run through a Cuttlebug folder and colored with alcohol inks. The cat was also colored with AI.

Today is International Women's Day. I used two qualities that I think have helped women achieve so much and may not be qualities that anyone else would choose. Both qualities are things I am still, at my advanced age, trying to acquire more of. I do know that being resilient and forgiving have helped me in my almost 53 years of marriage.

Black and White with Touch of Red

Mixed Media Monday's theme this week is black and white and a touch of color.  I used this photo of my grandfather and stuck on the Dezinaworld freebie Dalmatian.  A red bow is my touch of color.

International Women's Week/Day

International Women's Week is March 8-14. Jeanette at So Artful Challenge is using this as her theme.

I thought of the many women friends that I have had through the years and how important each of them has been.  There is nothing quite like a chat with another woman to help one sort out the real from the imaginary. And a real friend will tell you what's what.

I also thought of blogland, where I've made many women friends from all across the globe. So I have used Jeanette's charming 1860s map of the world as my backdrop. The images of the 2 women from opposite sides of the world are from Art Creations Friday and Dover Publications.

This 4x4 also qualifies for 4x4 Friday challenge with almost the same theme: International Women's Day.

Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog - Fans

I used Rainbow Lady's fan template (misshapen image is my fault) and several Dover freebie images, plus a few digital brushes of my own.

Theme Thursday - Art Words

I made on my craft sheet a soupy mix of blue and green Pearl Ex, gum arabic, and water, The card stock was dipped into it. The tag and the card are using that background material. Both are for the Theme Thursday's challenge of Art Words like dream, imagine, cherish, etc.

The neat flower on the card was made using the punch-outs that Laura, my crafty art pal, made today at our crafting play time.

March

Tag it On's theme this week is March (the month). I thought tulips and the color green. This tag was liberally embossed with a new embossing powder I got from Lindy's Stamp Gang called Midnight Emerald. It looks like black until it is heated and then it turns greenish. The card has been watercolored with pink and rubbed with green mica powder. The ribbon is the same color as the embossing so it didn't scan very well. The tulips were stamped with Archival Black ink and colored with watercolor pencils.

the Three Muses Challenge - Oh, Man!

Using a photo of one of my husband's ancestors I have made this digital collage for The Three Muses Challenge: Oh, Man!

The barn is from one of the freebies offered by Dover Publications. It is an illustration from a book. The car is also one of the Dover freebies.

Tuesday Challenges

Louise at Tag Tuesday has us using brown and one other color for our tags this week. I used brown distress ink and one other brown ink around the edges. I stamped one of my new See D's stamps in the center and colored with water based markers. The tiny plastic lavender oval says "health". While the brown ink was still wet I rubbed in some Misty Lavender Pearl Ex powder and sprayed with hair spray.

Crazy Amigos Challenge has the theme of Tags.

TMTA - Orange

Here is my orange ATC for the Think Monday Think ATCs challenge this week. The background was made by laying down acrylic paints and mica sprays onto my craft sheet. I then laid down a sheet of card stock to soak up some of the colors. I am sorry that this wasn't able to scan well. The butterfly is a 3-D bead so it warped the scan a bit. Above the butterfly is a wonderful metallic ribbon. The tulips were stamped onto watercolor paper and then colored with watercolor pencils. I'm tired of winter so I decided to go spring.
