Hibiscus in Water Soluble Crayons - PPF

Starting off this week with a work in progress, using

a photo (with permission) that Valerie-Jael took of some

hibiscus flowers. I don't have a photo-realistic version,

but I used her photo as my jumping off point.

This is on watercolor paper using Neocolor II water soluble crayons.

SOC colors

These are the three colors that SOC chose for this week.

I am not entering it since it is almost time for the next challenge.

I just wanted to see what I could do with those three colors.

Background for a Card

Here is how this background was made:

I took a white card stock and put it into an inked up

embossing folder (lavender color).

I added various blotches of  PearlEx colors and

Perfect Pearl metallic colors and then rubbed off excess.

I covered the entire surface with matte Mod Podge.

When that was dry I stamped (in Stazon) the little document.

Lastly, I put Perfect Pearl around the edges. This is 

a very shiny card, which really makes it pretty.

I wish the sheen would show up.

This will be my entry for PPF.  I have added the sentiment

"Thinking of You" on top of ribbon and washi tape.

Oil Painting

Here is a 9"x12" painting I did yesterday using my water

soluble oil paints. I have only 6 colors and desperately need

to get some umber and some more white to paint anything else.

As anyone who tries to post paintings knows, the colors on the

screen are not true to the paintings a lot of times. This one seems

OK except the sky is too purple. It is what it is! I am entering

this in the PPF for this week. Last week I posted but did not

enter the challenge. If you'd like to see that mixed media work

I'm not really sure I have finished this. Any suggestions?

Mixed Media Art

I was inspired by Pia Rom to try my hand at mixed media.

This is on mat board and has many bits and pieces of all

sorts of paper scraps, gesso, acrylic paints, and a little ink.

This sketch was done while I was watching TV 

tonight and was colored using Photoshop Elements.

More Hope cards

I'm trying to make cards from all those fun backgrounds I

did last week using the embossing folders and ink.

Butterfly-Hope Card

There is a lot of camera distortion on this shot of my newest, 

very sparkly card. It is really pretty IRL I have used the 

embossing folder, my butterfly punch, my HOPE stamp

that Laura gave me, Stickles, real birch bark, and lots

of different Perfect Pearls and inks.

Cards using shiny card stock.

This was not quite as I intended it to be, but I would

say it is a "save" and still usable to send someone.

I used Distress ink pads, embossing folders and other

inks. The flower was dipped in wax. The camera has

distorted the image somewhat. The card is rectangular.

Here is another using the same technique.

A Card and some Eyes - PPF

This card was made by "painting" with distress inks on the inside 

of my new daisy embossing folder by Darice and embossing.

This is my entry for Paint Party Friday.

Eyes! I have been doodling eyes since I was in high school.

Maybe for you that was ten years ago. For me it was about

65 years ago. Today I found some in an old checkbook and

had to laugh. They look very similar to the ones I doodled

last night (seen here). I guess I am not improving any.

The checkbook was in my 1970s federal income taxes records.

(My son who was helping me shred stuff found some perfectly

preserved S&H green stamps but no book to go with them.)

Backgrounds

Yesterday I used my embossing folders and distress ink pads, 

along with some sparkly stuff like Stickles and Perfect Pearls,

to create these backgrounds. The daisy folder is my newest,

a Darice folder, which I got at JoAnn's on sale for $1.99.

The two smallest backgrounds were done in acrylic paints.
