Crazy Amigos - Give it some color

This week Crazy Amigo's theme is to use lots of color.

Crazy Amigo challenge on September 9 was to make and use fabric paper in our art. I wasn't able to enter then, but now I have made some by layering various scraps of tissue paper and paper napkins and white glue. It is quite thick. I then cut it to size and embellished it.

Here are a couple of twinchies I made with fabric paper.

Here is part of the sheet cut into a 4x4. I cut off more of the fabric paper and made the ATC by adding some ribbon, some sewing and an image of a doll.

I think this qualifies for: Give it some color.

Gothic Arch - Open Theme Sunday

Today's Gothic Arch has no particular theme. I have made my arch using a background of Moon Shadow Emerald. The tree stamp is by PSX, and the embossing powder on the trees, the hand-drawn flourishes, and the hand-drawn arch is Ranger Pearl Blue. The top corners also have Stampendous Kaleidoscope embossing powder. I can't remember where I got the image, which I have colored with watercolor pencils.

SaWo - Alter Something

This is my entry for Saturday's Workout. We are to alter something. This is a mints tin I have put gesso on, added lace and shell beads, and an image to. It looks better in person than it does here. Sorry. It was lumpy so it didn't scan well. I sprayed Moon Shadow mists in several colors over the whole thing.

Special Award - I Love your Blog

Deborah has honored me by giving me this "I love your blog" award. Now I am passing it on to 7 bloggers whose works I so much admire. Here are my choices for this honor:

Theme Thursday - Numbers

The Theme Thursday challenge this week is to use numbers in our art. The first ATC uses one of the fabulous images from Retro Cafe Art, an old bingo card. The man is one of my ancestors.

The second ATC features a pair of sweeties from Retro Cafe Art and my bear stamp. Lots of people put hats on kids. I've never done it before. This time I put hats on them to hide a gigantic safety pin in the bear's hand. The background is Moon Shadow mist.

Created by Hand - Dragonflies

Some time ago I showed this dragonfly ATC. Here it is on a card I made for a friend. I placed the ATC on a blue cardstock slightly larger than it was. Then the next layer, slightly larger still, was some gold foil paper. The last layer was the navy cardstock. The background was an old watercolor from a class I took. The dragonfly is my favorite stamp and is  embossed in fine gold powder. The reeds were drawn by hand. Look at the other dragonflies for this Created by Hand challenge here.

I'm One of the Winners!!!

Kris Hubick had a digital collage sheet giveaway and I was one of the 3 people whose names were drawn by the random generator! I am so thrilled to receive her gorgeous collages. Visit her and see what wonderful things she has to offer for sale on her website. Thanks, Kris, I look forward to using these beautiful pictures.

Sunday Gothic Arches - Favorite Movies

The theme for this week's Gothic Arches is Favorite Movies. What is my favorite movie? Hm-m. I really don't know. But who can deny that the beautiful Audrey Hepburn didn't do a fantastic job in Breakfast at Tiffany's?  My 4x4 background is done with Moon Glow products - Glitz Spritz and Starburst stains. The arch is stamped with my hand cut stamp and embossed in gold flakes. Audrey came from a magazine.

Saturday's Workout - Fold It

Saturday's Workout this week wants us to create art using a fold technique. Here is my effort using a template from Mirkwood Designs. I have made a background with Emerald Moon Shadow mist. Also the inside of the "flower" is misted with the same. The outside of the "flower" is a shave cream marbled paper I received from an internet friend. I stamped the inside with a flower stamp and wrote inside: Bloom where you're planted.

Theme Thursday - Friends 4x4

Theme Thursday has as its theme this week: Friends 4x4. While this 4x4 isn't all that pretty, it was such fun to make. I tried the tissue paper and white glue collage made atop a plastic garbage bag. I first put down a layer of glue and a base tissue. After that I just added scraps of tissue paper and a few scraps from a colorful paper napkin, using lots of white glue over and under the scraps. I added this image I got from a magazine along with a piece of junk mail addressed to Special Friends.

Created by Hand - Crows

This week for the Created by Hand challenge we are to use crows. This image is from Graphics Fairy. My background is orange cardstock and yellow cardstock stamped with my twigs stamp (with a hand-drawn limb or two) and misted with Moon Shadow Buccaneer Bay Blue. The quote is by Tennyson and reads: "...long glories of the winter moon..."

Crazy Amigos - Flowers

Crazy Amigo challenge this week is: flowers. I used the photo of one of my floral designs and altered it using Photoshop Elements to make this 4x4. I'm still in the process of learning about PE. Almost every  collage or painted art piece I do has flowers in it, so I thought I'd do something different by using a digital alteration. CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE.

Gothic Arches - Time

When I saw that the theme for Gothic Arches this week was Time, I thought of Ecclesiastes 3 and all the ways that the word time was used. So using an image from the newspaper I have done a 4x4 called: A Time to Dance. The background is black glossy card stock and Moon Glow Glitz Spritz Antique Desert Rose and Moon Shadow mist Phantom Fuchsia.

Theme Thursday - Altered Playing Cards

I've never before altered a playing card and that was the theme for this week's Theme Thursday. Luckily, one of my internet friends had sent me a packet of goodies and in it was a single playing card, the 7 of clubs.

I took the card, sanded it, gessoed it, and sprayed it with Moon Shadow Sepia mist. I loved the effect on the gesso. Then I placed some collage items, one of which is a picture of 7 men who are holding farming tools (scythes?).

Sorry about the ridge across the middle. The gesso made my collage do funny.

Wonderful Giveaway

Kristin Hubick is giving away a beautiful sheet of digital collage in a drawing. If you want to be included in this generous offer, check out the details on her blog.

Gothic Arches - Pretty in Pink

Twice now in a week I've needed to work with pink, a color I don't use very much. This week's Gothic Arches has as its theme Pretty in Pink. I used this piece of paper I made from scraps of computer paper and pink tissue paper. It turned out pretty, but I didn't realize how coarse it was till I tried to make this ATC. This precious image came from Dover Publications.
I forgot to say that the image was done on Sheer Heaven® and transfered to the handmade paper using alcohol.

Saturday's Workout - Tissue

I've been wanting to do something with the pastel-colored (pink, blue, and yellow) tissue paper I got a few days ago. This morning Saturday's Workout has just the theme for me - tissue. My background was made by putting down Golden soft gel and layering different scraps of tissue with lots of gel over and under the tissues. When I got a beautiful array of greens and purples I decided it was time to stop layering and began the process of drying it with the hair dryer. Since the background has a soft feeling to it, I decided to do an ATC with a theme of Love One Another.

Created by Hand - Pink/Brown

Here is my entry for this week's Created by Hand challenge, whose theme is pink and brown. I have used a satin finished photo paper, sprayed it with a rose alcohol ink and Moon Shadow mists in Gossamer Gold and Phantom Fuchsia. The leaves are brown and rose-pink. I thought this was a fitting 4x4 art to say goodbye to summer, butterflies and flowers and hello to autumn leaves. I personally don't care for this much pink!

Saturdays Workout - Shaving Cream

Here is my entry for the Saturday's Workout. My background is a shaving cream marbling. I am also posting this greetings card on my other blog in another challenge.
