This ATC was made with a background of shiny HP flyer paper that had been sprayed with alcohol inks and touched up with gold. The eyes and the #10 are both packing tape transfers. I added the heart because it's getting near Valentine's Day, The phrase is handwritten.

Blog is Clogged!
I have tried twice to post a picture and a description this morning, but nothing new is coming on the screen. I've been wondering whether to give up Blogger or to give up Wordpress. Maybe Blogger is answering that question for me. If I can't solve this problem I will probably transport my Blogger entries over to Wordpress. You know where to find me.

Caladium
Even though botanical illustration is not my bag, I do enjoy painting foliage and flowers in my own way. This is a watercolor of a caladium leaf. Shortly after I took the photo, the leaf was eaten by the deer.

Fishes
Alcohol inks were used on a slick magazine page from a fishing magazine for the background of this ATC. There are 2 fishes stamped in Stazon ink. The foreground is green tissue paper and a real shell.

Vellum Butterfly ATC
The background of this card is pounded flowers, Siberian iris. The butterfly was printed onto vellum from a personal photo. It is attached with tiny sticky dots.

Basic Crayon Melting
After we used the restaurant gift card, I decided that the card holder would make a nifty ATC or two so I crumbled up some brown, orange, yellow and green crayons, folded the card and ironed. Above is the result. Later I will post the ATCs I make from this background.

San Diego Mission

Mello Yellow floral design
This arrangement was tons of fun to make. I used my favorite green container and some beautiful red and yellow mums. It was awarded a blue ribbon at a regular garden club flower show.
Purple and Blue Card
Here I had a bit of fun with my dragonfly stamp. The gray is really that HVAC metal tape that I stamped with black Stazon ink. The top stamp is on the inside of the card and I cut out a part to show it. To balance the purple, I sliced off a lower corner.

3 shiny maple leaves
This greetings card is using the stamp I made from craft foam and a craft knife. The lower one is embossed with Holographic powder. The middle one is embossed with Kaleidoscope and the top one is a mixture of the two with a little clear thrown in. This is very sparkly.

AI Background
I grew up in a time when recycling was just a fact of life, not an environmental project. So when the mousepad calendar came to an end in December, I decided I might find a use for its glossy backed chipboard. This alcohol ink background was done on it. I think I can make 5 ATCs from it. It almost looks like a forest or garden scene.

Salute to Mother
This floral design was one I entered in a flower show on a house tour and was awarded a white ribbon. Many of the flowers were grown in our yard and woods. I think the big fuchsia rhododendron in front sticks out too much. I should have left it off or added 2 more elsewhere. I suspect that it was the only blossom of that color decent enough for an arrangement.

Trumpeteer
Our daughter plays the trumpet. Our granddaughter plays the trumpet. Concerts with lots of trumpet sounds are our favorites. This picture of the fellow playing the trumpet was just begging to be on an ATC.

The Cutting
I have a few clear red glass cups sitting atop the bottom half of my kitchen double-hung window. It's just wide enough for colored glass bottles and cups. Here is one cup with a cutting that has begun to have roots.

Croton
This is a botanical illustration I did tonight of a leaf of a codiaeum variegatum pictum, better know as Croton. Botanical illustration is not my favorite type of painting. It is a tedious procedure, whereby layer after layer of thin watercolor is applied. A very small brush is used and it feels a little like paint by numbers painting!!! I worked so hard on this that I am putting it on both blogs.

JANUARY 1, 2008
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! One of our ex-neighbors has a huge chili party every New Year's Day and we are so fortunate to be able to be their guests. Today's party was great. I think the chili was not quite as spicy as it has been in the past. I liked it this way. It is always a tradition with them to serve blackeyed peas and stewed tomatoes along with the other party food. One of the best parts of the party for me was getting to play with their 9 year old Golden Retriever, George. George came in to where I was sitting and laid his head on my knees. As I began to massage his old, aching shoulders, his head got lower and lower. I really think he went to sleep sitting up. Finally, I lowered him to the rug so he would be more comfortable. I enjoyed George. I miss my Mitzi, who I lost 2 and a half years ago. It was good to love on a dog again.
