The interesting technique of collage stamping was used on this card, which is my entry for this week's challenge for Art Cards Challenge.

My bird was embossed with Stampendous Kaleidoscope embossing powder. He is iridescent blue and green in the light. Sorry it can't show up that well in the scan.

Paper Minutes 98 - sketch

Given a nice sketch for this week's challenge, I created this card for Paper Minutes. The background paper is a bought one. Usually I create my own backgrounds. The Li'l Redhead, of course, is my own design and painting.

Created by Hand - Gift Box

My creation for this challenge is a box like the McDonald's french fries containers. I took a green Bazzill cardstock and cut it to shape using a template. I edged the top curves front and back with gold embossing powders. Then I used Stampendous' Kaleidoscope embossing powder over the front and back faces, rendering the surface an iridescent blue.  The rose is gold embossed. TMTA - Good Morning

Good Morning is the theme for Think Monday Think ATCs. My ATC was made on a heavy cardstock that had been painted with acrylic paints, a little gesso, and some sprays and mists. The cup is one of the Cuttlebug embossing folders. I rubbed a light colored pastel chalk over it to bring out the embossing. The "I love you a latté" is a stamp my son gave me.

Gothic Arches - Weddings

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!

Weddings is the theme for Gothic Arches this week. In the spring of 1957 one month before the wedding day, the bride-to-be underwent parotid gland surgery, which left the  right side of her face paralyzed (temporarily). With Navy duty starting a continent away one week after the wedding, the couple went on with the plans. The bride couldn't smile on the outside but she was smiling big-time on the inside.

The beautiful arch is from a photo that Patty took and offered as a freebie on her blog. One of these days the rest of that wonderful photo will be used in some art work. Thanks, Patty.

Love and Kisses - One Stop Craft Challenge

Love and Kisses is the theme for One Stop this week. I have used some swirl and flourish stamps from Purple Onion Design and from All Night Media for the triangles. The kissing couple is from Hearts in Touch. This technique is called Tamp-a-tile and can be found on Anjes blogspot.

ACF Image and Background

We were provided with this gorgeous little girl image in black and white and a painted background to use for this week's Art Creations Friday challenge. I've added a brush of my front yard in aqua, some color and a freebie from Rein, the darling little white dog belonging to Rein's relative.

This was made for a new ATC challenge blog, Fun with ATCs. I used Hearts in Touch stamp and See D's stamps on glossy card stock.

WS - Leonardo da Vinci

     Wednesday Stamper's challenge theme this week is Leonardo da Vinci. In my opinion, he was probably the most gifted person ever to grace this planet. His genius was in so many fields other than the one we artists know best, painting and drawing. He was also a genius in surgical anatomy, mapmaking, engineering, archeology, and botany. 

     My background is tan cardstock stamped in archival brown ink with stamps from Purple Onion Designs and All Night Media. The images, printed out on beige paper, came from googling. 

     My husband and I visited Vinci, Italy,  and saw the wonderful little museum there with Leonardo's designs exhibited. More about Leonardo can be found HERE and HERE.

Green and Rose -Paper Minutes

I don't have the same shade of green or of rose as the inspiration piece, but I think this is close enough. Rose and green are the challenge color combination this week for Paper Minutes. I used this heart shaped stamp and my baby picture.

TMTA - buttons

For the Think Monday Think ATC challenge using buttons, I have made mine from a sprayed, misted, painted, and gessoed background. The stamps are Purple Onion and Stampin' Up.

Wings - MMM

Mixed Media Monday's theme is Wings. The background is lots of sprays, mists, blobs of gesso and acrylic paints, stamps and paper collage. Then I scanned it and used various brushes and other Photoshop Elements effects. The angel is from Dover Publications.

Shabby Chic - gothic arches

Gothic Arches has as its theme this week: shabby chic. I can do chic, but not too sure about shabby. Is that the same as grunge? Anyway, I am entering this arch containing a picture of one of my paintings of a shabby barn with the chic Mrs. Sallie Rhea, one of my ancestors,  in the foreground.

One Stop - fancy corners or edges

For the One Stop Craft Challenge today, I am entering this square card. The dragonfly is stamped onto a circle made of the same misting and painting as the larger background. I then did a glaze over the circle with UTEE. After leaving it in the freezer for a little while, I cracked it so that it looks like cracked glass. This scan doesn't do the technique justice. It's a fun, rewarding craft technique.

The Three Muses Challenge - Water

Here is my paper collage, my entry for The Three Muses Challenge. Water is the theme. The background has lots of acrylic paint rolled and dabbed on. The pages are from an old book and have the words minnow, river, and water on them. The aqua background is misted Pearl Ex and reinkers. The fish and shell stamps were given to me. I don't know who made them. The creel and fishing rod is a stamp I got from Stubby Stampers.

Take a Break - Tea Time

Paper Minutes has as its theme this week: Relax. I am a tea drinker, not much of a coffee drinker, so I chose this Dover image of two friends sharing a relaxing moment.  Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog has as its theme: Tea Time.

I am limited in movie memorabilia so I had to rely on Dover for most of this piece. A night at the movies (the theme for One Stop Challenge) must include a big bucket of popcorn, I believe. And Audrey Hepburn is always a winner when it comes to stars.

Art Creations Friday has furnished us with a lovely little girl image to work with. The piece is entitled "take a break". My little girl is taking a break from walking by riding atop her dog's back. This is a digital picture with the background, the dog, and the flowers taken from Dover publications freebies.

Theme Thursday - Paris

For the Theme Thursday challenge this week we are thinking Paris.  My granddaughter and I decided we would work up a couple of entries for the Paris challenge. She chose the more traditional scenes; I chose fashion. The shiny rayed circle is from Patty. Thanks, Patty.

Polka Dots and Stripes - Tag Tuesday

Polka dots and stripes is the theme for Tag Tuesday. My background was made by spraying hairspray, water and a couple of PearlEx powders on my craft sheet and laying the tag onto it. When it was dried I rolled some dots onto it and drew the stripes to match. Some Moon Glow glitz spritz and some collage materials and here it is! I thought that little girl was just too cute to pass up with her dotted swimsuit.

Crazy Amigo - Brand New Start

A Brand New Start is the theme for Crazy Amigo challenge this week. In this card that I made tonight is a teddy bear being patched up and given a brand new start.

The background started as a transfer from my large piece of  Sheer Heaven™ but the color was so pink I had to add some other colors to it. By the time I had added a few dulling colors, the poor background paper was getting really warped. At this point I just decided to wad it up and hit the ridges with gold wax. The little girl in the oval is a Stampin' Up  stamp my sister gave me. I painted the image with watercolor pencils.

Top Hat and Tails

Top Hat and Tails is the theme for Sunday Postcard. Postcards are 4"x6" pieces of art. This whimsical entry is made from a photo from my backyard taken in 2009. The baby is my mother and that photo was taken in 1909. Isn't digital art amazing? The hat was from Google.

Theme Thursday - Flying

Theme Thursday's challenge is to use something that flies in our art this week. I have done a digital piece using a Dover background, where the color has been changed and a Dover picture that I have greatly altered with Photoshop Elements.
