Sketches/Doodles and Handmade Flowers

First is a sketch done in the Lynn Cohen style (by accident).

I was just messing around with my watercolors and thought:

Gee, this looks like someone from Tacos Jalisco.

Next, this is what's left of the fabulous dozen roses I got from 

my friend Masayo several weeks ago. (greenery only, no flowers)

Here's a simple sketch/doodle while watching TV.

Then I began to make flowers using some hand painted papers

along with a few decorative papers. All are painted over with

some mica-ladened mixture I made to give additional shine

 but not much additional color. The flowers were punched, and

the petals were bent up and then rolled back over a skewer.

And here is a card I made using hand painted papers for the

background, flower, and leaves. These will be my entry for

Paint Party Friday.

Miscellaneous New Paintings

Nothing really exciting to show, just a few doodle watercolor sketches.

I do these while we watch Castle and NCIS reruns in the evenings. I have

a small box of Winsor Newton pan watercolors that I can use without mess.

The splashy background was used with some of my other watercolors to

make a challenge entry for another challenge. 

Does she look like a movie star from the past? I think the name was Dorothy McGuire.
Or Dorothy Malone? I googled and she doesn't look like their pix at all. Who is she?

These are my entries for Paint Party Friday. 

If this were September I'd be able to enter these in Twenty-nine Faces.

Thought for this Week

The scripture for this week's Word Art Wednesday is:

I have made this digital card using a watercolor background I made last night.

I digitally placed a tulip painting I made last week along with the scripture.

I thought this was one of the best scriptures so far for WAW. It is difficult to

remain content, especially when we are going through some trials, but this

reminds us that the combination of godliness and contentment is where God wants

us to be.

Take a Word - warm colors

This is a painting I did a bit over a year ago. I have used the Poster Edges filter in Photoshop Elements to create this poster-like effect. I am entering this in Take a Word challenge (Warm Colors).

So Artful - Pastels and a Map

I haven't entered a So Artful challenge in a long time and 

saw that it was maps and pastels this time, two things I love.

Here is my collage.

A Few New Pieces of Art for PPF

This may look like the painting I showed last week but it is another version. Also done in water soluble oils, these two are done on watercolor paper and the paint is thinned down with water.

This next painting is really a drawing that I colored with colored pencils and added the ribbon to. The background was made with one of the stamps I carved using fun foam door hangers.

This last piece is another of my Li'l Redhead art. My sister is collecting them and has many on her wall.

Fun with ATCs - die cuts

This ATC was made using all sorts of sprays and paints

that have mica in them. I don't own a die cutting machine

so I had to rely on some diecuts that friends have sent me.

This is my challenge for Fun with ATCs.

Merrie sent me the butterflies and I have sprayed many of them.

Take a Word - Wild Animal

Here is my entry for Take a Word - Wild Animals.

WAW and PPF Paintings

Here is a sketch I did last week. I have superimposed the

Word Art  Wednesday scripture on it digitally.

I'm posting these two here for Paint Party Friday.

I posted them earlier this week as I finished painting them.

The rose is the above sketch done in watercolor pencils

and dampened with wet brush. The tulip is painted with

water soluble oil paints. A better copy of this is seen at

Rose and Tulip.

Rose and Tulip

This rose was drawn in watercolor pencils while I was waiting for

my husband's hospital procedure to be finished.  The final

version after I applied the damp brush is shown below.

And here is a tulip I did this afternoon in water-soluble oils. 

The background is a soft medium cream. I don't know

why it is showing so dark on the screen. The

tulip colors are pretty accurate.

Word Art Wednesday

I haven't entered in Word Art Wednesday challenges lately,

but I got the nicest comment from Gemiel so I decided I would

make a big effort to share this digital piece with WAW viewers.

After a rough week of hospital trips and doctor visits, I was so

surprised and happy to receive these lovely roses from a caring

friend. This was a touching reminder of how faithful God is to

send just the right people into our lives to give us encouragement.

The scripture is Psalm 124:8

Paint Party Friday

I am using another piece of some sprayed and painted backgrounds I made recently.

I thought I had shown this girl before but I couldn't locate the post.  I have given

her more color and shadow and put her onto this background which I loved making. 

 And here is yet one more rose. This one is mostly a doodle while watching TV.

These are my entries for Paint Party Friday. This is a

busy week having procedures and office visits and surgery

for the two of us, but I will visit those who visit here and

leave comments (except those whose blogs I can't leave 

comments on, like Google Plus).
