Take a Word - Hats

I made this real paper card for the Take a Word challenge. The background is newspaper sprayed with MoonShadow mists. The swirls have been heat embossed in copper and gold. The hat lady is a stamp from my granddaughter.

I am having a VERY difficult time posting this. The spinning beach ball goes forever between words or phrases. It may be Blogger or it may be something more ominous.

Gothic Arches, Art Cards, and Take a Word

On the left is my entry for Gothic Arches (Bedazzled) and for Art Cards (Favorite Stamp). Above is my entry for Take a Word (Angel). The background for the arch was made using Lumiere paints, mica, Stickles and other dazzling paints and materials. I stamped it with clear embossing ink with my favorite flower stamp and heated gold embossing powder on the flower. Sorry the gold doesn't photograph  well on the arch. To make the TAW entry I superimposed an angel "stamp" from my digital collection. It is only there in the digital world.

Take a Word - Green

This is a doodle that I made on a yellow Post-It note. The flowers are actually a lovely orange and yellow combination. I used Photoshop Elements to make everything greener to fit in with the theme for Take a Word Challenge - green.

Take a Word - Nature

Not a new photo, but one that fits this Take a Word challenge - Nature.

We have these blue tailed skinks running around on our deck all the time. I have learned that the adults are all brownish without the gorgeous blue tail.

This is staged. The skink is a fake one I bought at the botanical garden.

Take a Word - the New Year

Joy to the World!

Here is my ATC for Think Monday Think ATC (script) and for Take a Word (Joy).

My background is one I got from Dezinaworld. The angel is a digital stamp I made from a Dover image. This was made to the 2.5x3.5 inch size.

Take a Word - Childhood

This is my entry for Take a Word - Childhood. These photos were taken of my husband and his sister and brother. He says he remembers the pony well and that he was scared to death.

Take a Word #47 - Male

For Take a Word - Male, I am using this late 1920s picture of my Uncle Robert holding his baby brother Leslie in front of Uncle Robert's new car.  It is parked by the house in which my mother, all her brothers, her one sister, I and one of my sisters were born. This is a digital card, but I may print it out to use.

Take a Word - Butterflies

For Take a Word the challenge is butterflies. I have used several Dover freebies for this plus the corner that June has let me use. This is a digital work and I have used a butterfly brush that I made from the Dover Butterfly.

Take a Word - Song

In the heat of the summer with its hot weather and hot colors, I am looking forward to the cool fall weather. My card for TAW (Song) is called Autumn Leaves. The butterflies are fading. The leaves are colored red and gold. I used Tim Holtz's texture fade technique on this that I learned from Dinglefoot. The flower is from a package of white flowers from the bridal section of Michaels. I have colored it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonglow inks.

Take a Word #38 - Flight

The Take a Word challenge this week is "Flight". For my bird's background I used two pieces of freezer paper on which I dropped various acrylic paint. By pressing the two sheets together and using a brayer, I got backgrounds on both the slick pieces of freezer paper.

For the rust colored background, I have tried to redeem a piece of watercolor paper that I royally messed up. I tried to do an iris in watercolor pencil and it looked awful. I kept applying various dyes and alcohol inks to cover the iris, to no avail.  So I have stamped hot air balloons all over it and covered up the iris with the bird panel. I think the colors turned out really pretty.

TAW - wedding

This is a terrible picture of a lovely couple (my uncle and his bride) along with my aunt, the flower girl, taken around 1933. I have added a few Dover and handmade backgrounds that I've made sepia. Take a Word challenges us to create using the theme: wedding.

Take a Word - Insects

Take a Word challenge's theme this week is Insects.

Take a Word - Wings

Take a Word has the theme of wings.  I love this Stampin' Up set and especially the butterfly.  The card was made for Deb, who just lost her mother.

Sun - Oriental

My ATC is made for Think Monday Think ATCs (sun) and Take a Word (oriental).

I started with white and red cardstock and constructed a Japanese flag. The two women and the "tree" are from a card sent to me by Frankie.

The flag of Japan is called in the English language: "rising sun". In Japanese I believe that the phrase for it is "circle of the sun".

Take a Word - Memories

This is my entry to Take a Word. A simple collage, but at 3:30 a.m. I can't think any more complex!

Take a Word - Travel

For the challenge Take a Word (Travel), I have used a photo of a city on the Italian riviera (background). The small inset is actually a collage made up of various parts of a travel brochure sent to my house. I digitally reduced it in size in order to fit it onto the larger picture. The woman in the upper right looked like she could be contemplating a trip to me so I borrowed her from Dover.

One of the most enjoyable trips my dh and I made was to Italy and did include San Remo and the beautiful Italian riviera.

Take a Word - Lace

When I think of lace, I visualize a beautiful bride such as this gorgeous lady from Dover Publications. I have set her in front of some alcohol ink backgrounds I made with a lace-edged piece of satin. June, who has given us this Take a Word theme for the week, let me use a number of her lace pieces.
