Pink-Green Tag and Written Word

Sorry my background turned out almost the same color as the tag. Pink and green tag is my entry for Tag Tuesday. The words are for The Three Muses.

I found this kit by Paper Bliss that had green. I made the flower and added a few things to the tag. I loved that it had definitions so it qualified for written word. Plus I added the sentiment: memories.

TMTA - map

Think Monday Think ATCs - theme is maps. This small cutout was from a travel brochure. The lion is a photo (reduced) of my pastel painting I have used several times in challenges.

Take a Word - Wings

Take a Word has the theme of wings.  I love this Stampin' Up set and especially the butterfly.  The card was made for Deb, who just lost her mother.

So Artful Challenges - picture

So Artful has supplied us with a picture of bears. I decided they looked like Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear of the Goldilocks fame.

Theme Thursday - Layers or Textures

I made this bookmark for my ever-growing supply of handmade bookmarks/tags for my church's fall bazaar. This is number 75.

Because it does have both layers and textures, I am entering it in Theme Thursday's challenge.

The background was spritzed with homemade mica spray. While it was wet, I sprinkled some kaleidoscope embossing powder and I heated it, giving it texture. Using my new McGill flower punch, I made the flower and decided to use the paper it was punched out of as well.

Rainbow Lady - Some Enchanted Evening

For Rainbow Lady's challenge I remembered that lovely Dover couple I had colored and saved on my computer. They look like they are going to some elegant occasion. Maybe the opera. Anyway, I also borrowed the scene of Venice from Dover and changed the look from daytime to night.

TIO and The Three Muses

The 3 Muses is celebrating its 2nd birthday and to celebrate we are making something with blue on it.  Tag it On is having its theme: fish (with a lovely tag by Janet as its inspiration piece).

Looks like everyone is ready to go off to the seaside. Lots of themes are of fish, under the sea, etc. My background is made with gesso and SU Ballet blue ink plus a little of blue ink from the office supply store. The stamps are Rubber Stampede and Embossing Arts. Coloring is Prismacolor pencils.

Fun with ATCs - underwater

My ATC is for the Fun with ATCs' challenge: Underwater.

I started with a white 2.5x3.5" cardstock. I found in my stash a strip of window decal I had made several years ago (that's the two rows of swimming fish). At the bottom I added a piece of packaging material from Tim Holtz tissue tape. I stamped some transparency film with StaZon with a stamp from Embossing Arts.

I flipped the transparency over and colored with Marvey Le Plume II pens and flipped it back over and attached it fishy scene to the background.

TMTA - Little Girls

I like to use up all the extra inks on my craft sheet by blotting with cardstock. This background is one such clean-up paper. The image of the girls playing together is from Dover. It reminded me of my sister and me playing dolls together. I am 19 months older than she is, about the same as these two girls. "Friends" is embossed in garnet embossing powder.

This is my entry for Think Monday Think ATCs.

The Three Muses - Eggs

A little fantasy piece for The Three Muses (eggs) done with images from Dover plus somewhere else. I don't know where the little girl and the basket of eggs came from. If you know, please post it in the comments section.

One Stop - Fairy Tales

For One Stop challenge (Fairy Tales) I borrowed this beautiful illustration of Little Red Riding Hood from Graphics Fairy. The background paper is a page from an old  gardening book. The flower is 3 medium-sized circles and 1 small circle, crumpled to look like a rose. All of this is mounted on white cardstock.

My fun Friday offering is a simple drawing of marigolds. Viewers may use it or the drawing here to alter or color as they wish.

Theme Thursday - Numbers

Theme Thursday's theme is numbers. My sister has her big 75th birthday next week so I made this card for her. This is not her picture, but my sister is learning to play the dulcimer so I thought it was an appropriate image. She is an amazing person. After having outlived two husbands, she has made a new life for herself with many new interests.

TIO - "write" postage

I don't have any stamps of pens or such so my stamp is of a typewriter. After all, the typewriter has been around for a long time and was often used for correspondence. But to make mine fit better I do have examples of real handwriting on my tag for Tag it On.

Doodle up for grabs

All you digital or Promomarker pen and Prismacolor pencil artists out there:

This doodle is free for taking. Just send me a link so I can see how you used it. I colored mine with Prismacolor pencils.

Tag Tuesday - Strawberry

This tag was made for Tag Tuesday. When I saw the theme was strawberry, I was stunned. My dh and I went to the local berry farm this afternoon and bought strawberries to make into freezer jam. We ended up buying 16 quarts of the goodies. Now let me tell you that that is a LOT of strawberries. They are huge, sweet, and in perfect shape. But my sweetie wanted me to get after them right after dinner, which I did. We called our son to come and please take 3 quarts off our hands. The second photo is what we got. As you see I used every available jar and plastic container I could locate.

NOTE: My strawberry jam is not cooked. I followed the recipe on the Sure-Jell package. You mix the Sure-Jell (pectin mix) with sugar and boil for a minute. Then you dump in mashed up strawberries and mix well. Put into jars and let set up for 24 hours. Then freeze for up to a year. We just today finished off last year's jam. Now we have another whole year's worth in the freezer

Sun - Oriental

My ATC is made for Think Monday Think ATCs (sun) and Take a Word (oriental).

I started with white and red cardstock and constructed a Japanese flag. The two women and the "tree" are from a card sent to me by Frankie.

The flag of Japan is called in the English language: "rising sun". In Japanese I believe that the phrase for it is "circle of the sun".

More Internet Headaches!

Now I can't get my yahoo mail. I get this message that the connection is denied.

Marie and Ice Cream

A lovely picture of Marie Antoinette was given us as an inspiration for the So Artful challenge. The One Stop challenge is to use ice cream in our work. I have borrowed a hand with ice cream from Wikipedia to replace the lovely flowers that were in Marie's right hand.

Playdate Cafe Challenge

The use of these two complementary colors plus grey was the challenge for Playdate Cafe challenge this week.

I have used stamps by Stampin' Up, white and gray cardstock, milled lavender Distress ink, a mixture of bundled sage (D.I.) plus curry (SU), and gray Caran d'Ache watercolor crayon.

I am making a lot of bookmarks/tags to donate to our church bazaar in the fall. I will probably put some text on this one in black ink to finish it off for the sale.

The little grey flowers look blue  on the computer, but they are really grey.

Theme Thursday - Garden

This is my entry for Theme Thursday.
Several years ago I discovered the fun of flower pounding. It’s easy. It’s fun. It’s quick. It’s beautiful. From personal experience I’ve found that it works best if leaves are placed face up on the receiving paper or cardstock and flower petals face down. This is made on some handmade paper that Laura gave me.
To make this one I put down a section of newspaper on the concrete floor of my garage, placed the absorbent paper next, then arranged the leaves face up, covered everything with a paper towel, and gently tapped with a regular hammer where I could see leaves. I lifted the towel, removed the smushed leaves and arranged the flower petals on the same paper, except face down. I replaced the paper towel and gently tapped where I could see petals. I had to reuse some of the flower petals a few times.
I used japanese maple, nandina, barberry, buddleia and basil leaves. I used 2 kinds of petunia petals and 2 kinds of marigold petals.

TIO - Texturize it

Tag it On's theme is texturize it. This is my entry.

Try as I may I can't get the camera distortion to leave. This tag was made on glossy cardstock, on which I stamped some of Stampin' Up stamps (Simple Friendships) in StaZon. I did a Cuttlebug folder embossing and colored with Distress Inks. The orange "button" is a 5-ply cardstock button coated with Crystal Effects. The technique for the button can be found on the Splitcoast Stampers website. Also, I used a lot of heat embossing.

Tag Tuesday - The Deep

This is my tag for Tag Tuesday where the theme is "The Deep" as in the ocean. The stamp is by the Embossing Arts Co. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils.

Art Cards - Layered

I am making some bookmarks/tags to go to Jan to deliver as she visits shelters for women and children in the eastern USA. This particular one does not scan well, but it is really pretty in person. I am entering it in the Art Cards challenge, where the theme is layering stamped images and colors.

Lady in Red - Rainbow Lady's Challenge

Lady in Red is the theme for Rainbow Lady's Challenge this week. My images here all come from Dezinaworld.

Tag it On - Purple

For Tag it On our challenge is to use purple. A quick look through my blogs will reveal that I like purple and use it a lot. Here is my tag with various shades of purple.

Tag Tuesday - Blue and Green

Here is my entry for Tag Tuesday where the theme is blue and green and where we must use a real stamp*. My background paper is actually blue and green so that was a cinch. I took some pale green card stock Laura gave me and stamped the butterfly on it. The flowers are from a decorative paper.

*Just was reminded that Tag Tuesday does not require a stamp. It is another tag challenge called Tag it On that requires a real stamp.

Crazy Amigo Challenge - Mother's Day

I made this digital art just for the fun of it and then I saw that the challenge for Crazy Amigo is Mother's Day. This is not my mother or my grandmother, but she was an ancestor. I'm not sure which one. So I think it works for this challenge.

I used two beautiful pictures of the sky as my background. The photos were made by equine photographer Lorie Hull Elverd of Kentucky, who has graciously allowed me the use of some of her photos.

TMTA - Fragrance

I chose a background from Dezinaworld and a couple of ads from   Dover Publications to make this digital ATC. The background ad is for Hoyt's German Cologne. The girls are advertising Hoyt's German Cologne and Rubifoam for the teeth (whatever that was).

This is my entry for Think Monday Think ATCs - fragrance.

Also entering this in June's challenge to use Dezinaworld images.
