The Beach
This week's watercolor class did a beach scene from the
photo provided by the teacher. Below is mine and I am
entering it in the Paint Party Friday challenge.
Because my daughter, whom I have not seen for 3 years,
is visiting this week, I do not have more art to show.
I will try to visit after she leaves on Friday or Saturday.

Those Autumn Leaves Drift by my Window...
Those Autumn Leaves of Red and Gold...
Those of you who are still young may not recognize those
song lyrics, but I used to play that record over and over
while I was in college. October is a month of many events
in my life including many birthdays, anniversaries, and even deaths.
Here is another autumn painting/sketch. I did this one yesterday.
Monday's watercolor class is getting to be more and more
of a challenge. I have never been around horses so I
don't know exactly what they look like, just sort of. The
class instructor owns horses and loves them dearly, so
that was our assignment. She supplied the photo for us to go by.
Here is my effort:
Last week I rediscovered Word Art Wednesday,
a challenge where a scripture is given to be used (or not)
in a piece of art. It doesn't have to have a scripture,
just be a positive sort of art post. Most of them are
cards, but mine is a watercolor plus digital text.
I showed this earlier for WAW but I also want to
have it here for Paint Party Friday.
And lastly is a digital collage I made. The flowers
are from a photograph that I digitally duplicated
over several layers of colors and the text added digitally.

Word Art Wednesday
Yes, I know Wednesday was several days ago,
but I just remembered that fun challenge I used to
enter: Word Art Wednesday. The hosts give a
suggested scripture to use but it is not required.
Here is my watercolor art with the digitally
imprinted scripture on it.

A Variety of Arty Things I did this Week
Some cards I made with my Big Kick.
Some painted papers I made and will use for journaling.
Another of my signature Li'l Redhead illustrations,
based on my granddaughter who is now 28.
Li'l Redhead has been caught doing many household
chores in the last 25 or so years. One of my first images
of Li'l Redhead can be seen as my photo on FB.

This was the project Monday in my watercolor class.
The teacher provided a photo she had taken of a little
boy who appeared to be in his big brother's shirt.
This is a digital collage made with Photoshop
Elements' brushes as well as a brush I made from
my watercolor of the little boy.
I cut a stencil for the background and a stencil for
the face, sprayed blue ink, and then painted my
face with watercolors. This is so not me! But it was fun.
The last two pieces are reruns from about 4 years ago.
Join in the fun at Paint Party Friday.

PPF for October 7
This week's watercolor class was painting waves crashing
against the beach. As usual, the teacher provided a photo.
No one's painting looked like the photo or even resembled
waves crashing against a beach. Here is my attempt.
I painted Gracie, a friend's Beagle, from a photo:
Then I used my birthday gift card to Michaels to buy something
new and different for me: 2 tubes of gouache, orange and blue.
I used these plus regular watercolors to do this tree. Not sure I
will invest in more gouache since I don't know how to use it.
Next are the two sides of a 3-fold book we are
making in mixed media class on Saturdays.
These are both works in progress.
And finally I am showing a family photo of my
late husband's grandmother and other relatives.
Grandmother is at the right end of the first row.
