Jo's Art Class

Here's what I started in Jo's art class today and came home
to finish. The text says: Before finding her niche, Daisy
always felt like a thorn bush in the garden of life.

I think some of us do feel that way at times. I know I do.

More pages from the altered book

Above is the WIP from last week. I glued some deli paper on both sides.
The deli paper had been used as a palette so it had these wonderful bright
colors on it. There was little to change to make a dress so I added the girl.
I found the hare's face on another piece of deli paper along with his cape,
so I added the ears, feet, etc.

Here is the result.

And here another pages spread. The quote is from Schumann and it says:
To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist.

And my favorite one with some collage work is below:

Altered Book and Board Book Pages

I have started painting the pages of my altered book.
The scanner is acting up this morning so I can't do
closeups of each page. I can tell this is not my field
to be in. Such a mess to my more organized nature.

and here are two more board book pages:

This is my entry to PPF.

Metal Tape Cards

Here are a couple of cards I have finished off today.
They were made using metal duct tape that I dry embossed.
The flowers are from Michaels and the decorative stripe
are from A. C. Moore's bargain bin (a real great deal).
I used 2 strips side by side for each card. The seams
are not too visible after I applied the acrylic paints.

I'm staying in today. I had a bad start to the day because I failed
to listen to the news before leaving for church. Last night the
forecast sounded fine and we would be up in the 40s by noon.
So I traipsed out to the SUV and took off down Rte 711 before
really warming up the vehicle. I did notice it was drizzling, but
I thought it was rain. After a mile, the windshield quickly became
a sheet of opaque ice. I almost panicked because I could literally
not see out the front. By going about 5 mph or less and peeking under
the windshield wiper blades I was able to make it to the only place
within 4 miles where I could turn around. Very scary. I learned
a valuable lesson… warm up the car before leaving the driveway.
