Fuchsia, Green and White - Colour Create

This ATC background was made last night as I was playing around with inks and a hand-carved stamp. When I discovered that CCC had as its theme: fuchsia, green and white, I decided I could make my ATC work with that theme. I'm not sure exactly what defines fuchsia. Besides the computer doesn't do a great job of getting my colors right on the screen. I will probably add this to some cardstock and make a greetings card from it.

The birdie stamp is one given to me. Not sure who made it.

Last Wednesday Stamper Challenge

I'm sad that the Wednesday Stamper challenge is closing down. Wednesdays are incredibly busy for me and so I often wasn't able to join. However, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to participate in the final challenge. Use a rubber or clear stamp.

My background is done in alcohol inks (I love them!!!). My stamp is "Elizabeth" by Stampin' Up.

Thanks to the design team, which has done an outstanding job providing us with inspiration.

Summer red and lime green tag

This tag is for Paper Minutes (red and lime green) and Tag Tuesday (summer).

The background was made digitally using Dezinaworld background and some brushes I designed. I printed that off and found this delightful lighthouse that was white and red. (The house looks gray in the scan but it really is white.)

Think Monday Think ATCs

TMTA's theme this week is cups. I looked at all my china, both antique and fairly modern, and could find nothing better to use than this old Sheffield china cup. My mother had a complete set. I had a few pieces. So at her death I acquired lots of it. I believe we came by these pieces in cereal boxes. I need to check on that, but I don't believe I ever bought any of these dishes.

The background is one I purchased from Nicecrane Designs (Children's Tales). The children are from Dover Publications.

So Artful - the cowboy

When we were kids my sister and I loved movie stars and especially Roy Roger and Gene Autrey. My dad took us to see John Wayne movies every weekend at the drive-in movies. We would take quilts and snacks and have a fun family night out. So Artful has "the cowboy" as its theme this week.

The background is a copy of a bandana print I made using various stamps, ink, and white gel pen.

Art Cards - Buttons

Buttons, preferably homemade ones, is the theme for Artekarten challenge this week. I made my two buttons using stacks of cardstock. I glazed them with Crystal Effects. One of them I dry embossed around. The rose is from a paper napkin.

Rainbow Lady's challenge - digi

Rainbow Lady's Challenge is to use digital images. This is totally digital. I have used two backgrounds and an image from some digis I bought from Dezinaworld.

Blogger Troubles for TIO & Paper Minutes

Finally I can post my entries. The top one is for Tag it On and the theme is Faces. I used for the background an enlarged photo of an antique postcard. The stamp is by Hearts in Touch.

The lower photo is my entry for Paper Minutes. I used a paper napkin that has the rose and old writing on it. The image is from ACF.

So Artful - Waterhouse picture

Waterhouse's paintings are always so elegant and have such beautiful images. This woman was the image given to us this week in So Artful challenges. Not being a fan of either crystal balls or skulls, I decided to eliminate both.

The magnolias came from Dover Publications.
The background is my photo of a truffles wrapper.

Crayon Resist - Art Cards Challenge

Art Cards challenge is to use the crayon resist method. This was a lot of fun as can be seen by the sheer number of things I made.

Most of these were made with regular dye ink pads. However the last two were made using alcohol inks for the background. The "Love" one is  not a stamp, just freehand doodling with a white crayon.

Rainbow Lady - Sailing

This is my 24"x30" oil painting I did using a photo taken on a trip out into the Chesapeake Bay (USA). Sorry, it is not a recent painting, but it is one of my favorites. Several nieces, sisters, etc. have asked me to will it to them! I am entering it into Rainbow Lady's challenge - I am sailing.

This week my dh and I took a 3-day trip into the mountains celebrating our 54th wedding anniversary. We stayed at Meadow Lane Lodge and Cottages in Warm Springs VA. Very quiet. Very nice cottage. Fun fly-fishing. We both caught and released fish. Anyway, that's my excuse for not offering something I have just created.

Created by Hand - circles and dots

Created by Hand's theme is Circles and Dots. I used lots of different bottle caps to make the circles on the card stock and embossed them with gold and blue embossing powders. I used a strip of sequin waste and gesso. The music and roses were addeded digitally.  I think the dog comes from Dover.

Mushrooms - TMTA

I used a background and the images of the bear and the mushrooms from Art Creations Friday to make my ATC. After I printed it I added the rose hat, the shiny earrings, and the decoration at the bottom. This is my entry for Think Monday Think ATCs.

So Artful Challenges - picture

So Artful gave us this photo of Elizabeth Taylor as a prompt for our entry to this challenge. I have made it into a faux postage stamp. In the US we have what is called "forever" stamps. Even if the postal rates go up, these stamps will still be good for first class mail. The stars background comes from a Sharon Duncan CD.

Art Cards - Oil Pastels and Package Cord

I'm not sure I really understand the challenge, but I've made a tag using what I think the requirements were for the Art Cards challenge.

The background was made using oil pastels, which I smoothed out using odorless mineral spirits. The flower is made with punches. I glued some package cord to the tag and used it for the hanging ribbon.

PDCC - dusty rose, blueberry, and cream

Play Date Cafe Challenge colors this week are blueberry, dusty rose, and cream.  It really is hard to get the colors to show up on screen as they are in real life.

My paper is from a pack of vintage papers and actually had the dusty rose and a light version of the blueberry in it. To get a blueberry color I mixed Stampin' Up Concord Grape with the distress ink sage. The cream was in my card stock stash.

Goodbye to Audrey

Today will be the memorial service for our son's sister-in-law Audrey, a beautiful soul. We will all miss this wonderful member of our extended family.

Tag it On - Winged Things

I had just blotted the alcohol inks from my craft sheet with this strip of glossy cardstock and was looking for a use for it. Well, here it is as a tag for Tag it On (things with wings). The butterfly stamp was a RAK from Frankie a while back. I love the unique shape of it.

My Prize from Rainbow Lady

A few weeks ago I won a Sharon Duncan Embossibilities CD on Rainbow Lady's Challenge. The printed out papers look like they have been embossed and the colors are so beautiful. Here is a "Thinking of You" card I have made from one of the wonderful backgrounds included in the CD.

I am showing this on my challenge blog even though the card is not entered in any challenge.

Medieval - So Artful

The lovely image was given to use for our entries for the So Artful challenge this week. I have done a digital piece using it plus some gorgeous arches images I got from Nicecrane Designs, the medieval medallion from Dover Publications, and the background arch from Patty.

Poison Ivy

Art Cards challenge's theme today is Poison. I immediately thought of that sprig of poison ivy that has grown up in one of my shrubbery plants. So with this pad of paper sent to me by some charity wanting a donation I took my pencil and sketched the poison plant.

When I got back into the house, I noticed what was written at the bottom of the pad. (Enlarge picture to read.) I looked to see if there was some benefit or purpose for Poison Ivy. I believe it is used in some medicines.

Sorry for such a poor post today. Much housework to be done. If I get more time, I will add something else.

Edit: I took the above drawing and painstakingly removed all the parallel lines. In the spring and summer poison ivy is shiny green. In the fall it can be red, pink, burgundy, golden, etc, just as the autumn tree leaves are. All parts are toxic in any season. Sensitive skins break out in horrible rashes.

Sunrise - Sunset

Rainbow Lady's Challenge this week is sunrise-sunset. This must be sunset since I don't know any little boys who would get up at sunrise to play. The background was created this evening with Prismacolor pencils on cardstock. The silhouettes are digitally added. The trees are from Annika von Holdt. The boy and butterfly are from Dover.
