Paper Minutes

The 3 colors selected for the theme for Paper Minutes are brown, turquoise, and mint. Here is my entry.

White ATC

Think Monday Think ATC has the theme "white" today. This is harder than it looks to make and harder still to photograph or scan! I used white cardstock to emboss the background with a cuttlebug folder. The lower left is a scrap of white lace topped by a white fabric rose. "JOY" was stamped onto white cardstock using glossy acrylic paint and then cut out and glued to the ATC.

Art Cards and KIS

Here is my entry for Art Cards (white gesso) and for Keep it Simple (Joy). The trees and Joy were stamped in alcohol ink onto glossy cardstock. The white gesso was applied with a plastic basting brush onto purple cardstock.

Thanksgiving - Rainbow Lady

Today is the feast day that most Americans look forward to each year. Typical menus include turkey and stuffing, cranberries in many forms, corn pudding, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. Usually there are so many leftovers we don't have to cook again for several days! 

I put this on my non-challenge blog for today and when I saw Cynthia's challenge on Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog with the theme Thanksgiving I knew I could post it here as well. The foreground image is a clip art I got from somewhere, maybe Dover Publications. The background was done with various digital brushes, some of which are my own invention and some of which came with the Photoshop Elements software.

TMTA - Candle

My ATC for think Monday think ATC this week started as a piece of Christmas ribbon. I added to that a drawing I made of a candle. Noel was added by computer.

Art Cards and Dezinaworld

I have made this for Art Cards (blue and white) and Dezinaworld (favorite era). I really don't have a favorite era and think each has its own lovable qualities. I chose this Dover freebie image. The absurdity of trying to play golf with all those skirts was just too funny to pass up.

Art Creations Friday

My entry for ACF is a posterization of one of my paintings where I have inserted the beautiful little girl reading a book.

I'm trying to get back into art a little today. So much has been happening around here. DH is not well so I am doing more work around the house. Today I must get after the bushels and bushels of leaves on the lawn. Raking leaves is good exercise up to a point. After raking a couple of hours yesterday, I was pretty tired. I may use the leaf blower, but it is so heavy.

Tag Tuesday - Backgrounds

For Tag Tuesday we have a guest host Pam, who has set the theme this week as backgrounds. Pam is a master background artist. Check out her blog.

My background for this is white cardstock sponged with alcohol inks and silver mixative, applied with blending solution. After drying the inks, I embossed the tag using a Cuttlebug folder. Next I took an ink pad and rubbed it across the embossed surface. I think it makes for an interesting background.

TMTA - SPOTS

Think Monday Think ATCs' theme is spots. I gathered spots from places like the Metropolitan Museum of Art's catalog, Art Creations Friday, Dezinaworld, Dover Publications. The very perfect spots were added digitally on top of some sequin waste background I had made.

Wonderland - KIS

Keep it Simple to me means just what it says. So I took a photo from last winter's snowstorm and added the figure that Jeanette gave us for So Artful. I did change the image a little, colorwise. I am having fun with this gorgeous woman image. I even used her on my non-challenge blog.

Thanksgiving - So Artful

This beautiful image was provided by So Artful Challenges as our jumping off point for this week's art. I have used a background I bought from Dezinaworld.

BTW - After I put the text on this I realized that it should have said "plenty" instead of "prosperity". And I think plenty is all we really need, not prosperity. And maybe the word should be "enough", not plenty. Anyway, I am so thankful for what I do have.

Artekarten - Different Kind of Card

Art Cards theme is a card that is different. Shown was a tent card. This is my version of a tent card. It was not easy for me, but it was lots of fun. See the tutorial.

Mother and Child - Dezinaworld

For Dezinaworld's challenge this week, I am using Jamie's freebie of a mother and child. The frame is a Dover freebie. I think the green background came from Art Creations Friday.

Rainbow Lady & PDCC

This is my entry for Playdate Cafe (colors of red, pale blue, bright blue, burgundy, and pink) and Rainbow Lady's challenge of Remembrance (use thinking of you and a poppy). This is a watercolor I made a while back and have stored it on my computer. I made a digital card using it.

The East Tag- TIO

Tag it On has as its theme: The East but not the usual red, gold, and black. Here is a tag I made for our church bazaar. I have stamped it with a clear stamp and heat embossed it.

The Three Muses - Black Birds

The Three Muses has the theme of Black Birds this week. I found this black and white illustration from the Dover freebies and colored it via PSE. The background is one of my own generating. The trees are brushes from Annika von Holdt.

The house in the background is one of the Dover freebies. The man in the foreground is one of my ancestors. This ATC is my entry for Fun with ATCs this week.

TMTA - Postage Stamps

Think Monday Think ATCs' theme is postage stamps this week. I have used the back of an envelope I made for my background. The stamp of the man is one I made myself from a picture of one of my ancestors, Ben. The Australian stamp came on a homemade envelope from Marie. The two US stamps were on a homemade envelope from Bev. Making envelopes is wonderful fun. See some here.

Keep it Simple - Shape Up!

Keep it Simple urges us this week to shape up. I took that to mean using shapes/cutouts. I have used a cutout of my stamped elephant mom and baby (Rubber Stampede). The background scene is from a travel magazine. The backing paper is some I got at the discount store. "Explore" came from another travel magazine.

Everyone Wins Challenge

June has a fantastic challenge going till December 4 where everyone is a winner! It is called the "Everyone Wins Challenge."

Among the rules are:
1. You must be a follower of Dezinaworld.
2. You must make a paper art (non-digital) using Dezinaworld images.
3. You must link your entry to Dezinaworld blog. Click on the link above to get all the details.
4. Tell your friends.

My 4x4 is mounted on dark green Bazzill cardstock. The image, music, and newspaper (all Dezinaworld) are all printed out. The oval is a transparency from a sheet of frames and sentiments. It has no brand label on it.

My Japanese friend copied 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 for me in Japanese. This says "Love is patient". Patience is not one of my best qualities so it is good to be reminded of this verse every now and then.

The embossing is done with a Cuttlebug folder. The image is one of those that Dover Publications has offered as a freebie.

These two bookmark tags are some I have done previously, but they are embossed and sort of match the card I did for today.

Art Cards - Dezinaworld

A lot of the Psalms have been set to music. I thought this song was from there too, but I found it in Isaiah instead. When I learned Dezinaworld's theme is song, music, dance I thought of the trees dancing and clapping their hands as described by Isaiah.

Then Artekarten challenges us to use corrugated cardboard in our art. I loved playing with that stuff. I'd never done that before. So here is my wintry card.

Rainbow Lady's Challenge - Make a Picture

The travel brochures are still pouring in. We have never made a cruise so I don't know why we have been so honored to receive this free art fodder. This picture was made by using the bits and pieces from 2 such travel advertisements. The theme Janet chose for Rainbow Lady's Challenge blog is "Make a Picture."

Back & Front Tag -Tag Tuesday

Tag Tuesday's theme is back and front, a two-sided tag. I am using the same wonderful paper I got at Ollie's (see post below) and my new flower punch (see post below) to make my tag. The music is a background stamp that I stamped with a deep purple ink from Stampin' Up.

On the subject of tags/bookmarks, many of you know I have been making bookmarks and tags and greetings cards for our church bazaar to benefit our church. I'd like to report that of my 75 tags/bookmarks, I sold 53. I also sold 23 of my greetings cards. And I sold a framed watercolor.

TMTA - Teatime

Here is my ATC for TMTA, where the theme is teatime. I love this tiny cuttlebug folder of the teacup with a flower in it.

I went to Michael's after my mammogram today and bought me another flower punch with my 50% off coupon. I already had the tiny flower punch so I put them together to make this 3D flower.

My backing paper is from Ollie's. It was originally marked $19.99 for the pack of 60 assorted sheets. It was marked to $7.99. The brand is Me and My Big Ideas, a new one for me. Please click on the flower to see all the details.
