TIO - 3D Metallic Mode

Here is my tag for Frankie's Tag it On challenge of 3D Metallic Mode. I made the tag part using card stock that I collaged on bits and pieces of rusty metal-looking card stock that I had sprayed and dabbed with mica mists and stains. I decided to use my Stampin' Up stamp of the old fashioned sewing machine and decorate the tag with metal sewing items.

Sorry, this tag won't be sent to anyone and will be dismantled so the sewing stuff can go back into my sewing box. However, I plan to reuse the metallic-looking tag. It's really cool.

Colour Queen #39

I used the ATC I made yesterday and digitally changed the colors and made a new pattern with Photoshops Elements with the colors given to us by CQC.

The flower is my watercolor that I have on my other blog, except I have changed the colors slightly to meet the color requirements of this challenge.

TMTA - Diamond Pattern

Here is the ATC I made using some purple cardstock and some dyed papers. Actually, the wavy surface was the top of a gift box that I dyed. The gray center is cardstock dyed with the same dye only with the addition of silver mica powder.

I digitally reduced the ATC to a very small size. Using the pattern feature of Photoshop Elements, I created the background below. The petunia is a .png I made of one of my watercolor paintings.

The theme for Think Monday Think ATCs is Diamond Pattern.

Mask

My background is one I had made earlier. It looked like a good one to use to do masking on.

I stamped one of my flourish stamps onto cardstock and cut it out making a mask. Using the mask I added the brown distress ink with a brush. I added the mask itself, which I had inked with fired brick distress ink.

The flower was made by punching out heart shapes from some painted papers and putting them together to form a flower.

Other works of art using masking can be found at Art Cards Challenge (Artekarten).

MMM - Something Old

My paper collage was made for Something Old, the theme for Mixed Media Monday this week. I used background paper made from various stray mists and sprays from other projects. I also used various old pages from books and such (RAK from Rosie of Devon). The main image is of Uncle Robert and his bride Aunt Lorraine. The little one is my aunt Anne, who turned 80 this year.

This wedding must have been beautiful. The only picture shows a large wedding party, with the ladies in gorgeous gowns. Aunt Lorraine's bridal gown appears to have lots of wonderful lace on in. It was a real gown with long lace sleeves, not the ballroom type gown that passes for a wedding gown these days.

In the olden days no one expected that a marriage would end before the death of one of the couple. This one lasted till Aunt Lorraine died in her sixties.  Uncle Robert left us shortly afterwards.

Alcohol Ink on a Christmas Card for Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog

Cynthia of Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog wants us to work on our Christmas cards this week, using alcohol inks. Well, folks, since my husband has bought half-priced Christmas cards on December 26 each of the past several years, I haven't made many at all, even though I love to make them.

This card is done on glossy cardstock with the background being silver mixative, currant, eggplant, and slate alcohol inks. (The silver looks slightly yellow in this photo.) The Santa stamp is one my daughter-in-law found at a flea market so I don't know who made it. I used black Archival ink to stamp it on glossy cardstock. Around the zigzag edges I used Stampin' Up Crystal Effects and Stampendous Crystal Snow. I also coated the snowflakes with the same. I wish the photo showed the shimmer.

Art Creations Friday

Art Creations Friday provided the jolly little man for us to use in our art for this week's challenge. My windmill and my sea scene and the frame are all Dover Publications images. I use various brushes to change the grass, sky, and water.

Colour Create and TIO

Dragon Lady's Tag it On, celebrating her upcoming handfasting ceremony has directed us to present a tag with the theme: Scene in the Garden. I have used some decorative papers for the background and stamped it with my Stampinback stamp of the wild flower. In the foreground is my Li'l Redhead (made smaller and run off on the computer).

I am also entering this for the Colour Create challenge which has some pretty wild colors to pick from using this Mad Hatter poster. This one was supposed to be on a white card so I digitally made the tag into a card.

CQC37

This is my entry for Colour Queen Challenge using Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal, and Always Artichoke Stampin' Up colors.

Tilda was colored with watercolor pencils and other colored pencils.

After handcoloring Tilda, I scanned her to the computer and did the rest of this digitally. The flower design under her is one of my own concoctions.

Buttons and Bows - The 3 Muses

This sweet little girl came from Graphics Fairy. The background is one of my own. Everything has been altered using Photoshop Elements. This is for the Three Muses challenge of buttons and bows.

I am posting this early since I have to accompany dh to a downtown doctor at the crack of dawn. I'll be back later to check on what everyone has done.

Tag Tuesday - Man

Tag Tuesday has as its theme: Man. My background is a spray of various Moon Shadow and homemade mists. My "friends" stamp is Stampin' Up. Picture is from a magazine.

Mixed Media Monday - Vintage Ads

Collages are not really my thing, but I thought I'd try one on canvas board, using vintage ads I am entering it in the Mixed Media Monday challenge this week. The four ads are thanks to Dover Publications.

TMTA - Groups

Here is Leonardo's interpretation of Jesus' last supper with his disciples. This is certainly one of the well known groups in history and should qualify for the Think Monday Think ATCs challenge theme of Groups. I have used some art work I did on Leonardo earlier plus a stained glass window from Dover images. The Last Supper is found in Luke 22.

CQC36

Colour Q's colors (Stampin' Up) this week are:
So Saffron
Sage Shadow
Pumpkin Pie
Chocolate Chip
White

I'm too late to be considered for Colour Queen but I wanted to see if I could use my Li'l Redhead drawing to do a card using the specified colors. I took my original painting and I've digitally changed the colors to meet the color requirements for this week.

So Artful and Sketch Saturday

Jeanette at SoArtful Challenges gave us this lovely bride and groom dancing for an image to use in this week's challenge. So I used the sketch provided by Sketch Saturday to create this piece, using 4 decorative papers, ribbon, cardstock and the image. The stained glass is one I got from Dover Publications.

Art Creations Friday #78

Using the background of fabrics, I've made this piece for Art Creations Friday. Most of you will recognize my ancestor Mrs. Sallie Rhea. Other additions are from Dover.

Rainbow Lady - Fantasy Trip

Rainbow Lady's challenge almost took me out of the race this week. I just couldn't get my creativity going. So I thought back into the past when Skipper, Mary Ann, Gilligan, and others took off for a short sail that landed them on a deserted island. That's about as fantasy as I can get tonight. Take a Fantasy Trip with Me and use a tag was the theme for Rainbow's Lady's Challenge.

Tag it On and Wednesday Stamper

There are 2 things that I dearly love about mixed media art. They are things I didn't experience when I was doing only oil painting or watercolor painting. These two things are: alcohol inks and flourishes.

Wednesday Stamper wants us to do art with the theme: I Love. This tag contains the 2 things I love.

Dragon Lady's Tag it On wants us to use acetate and alcohol inks. I have many alcohol inks, but I do not have acetate. I used what I had. I used a piece of plastic document cover (the top part of the card) and Sheer Heaven. I'm not sure what SH is made of. It could be acetate; it could be a toothed plastic. Anyway the lower part was done with the AI on the toothed side of SH. The lower right side and diagonally up toward the left (green to red) was done with the AI on the slick side of the Sheer Heaven. The stamp is from Purple Onion.

Tag Tuesday - My Favorite Things

Louise at Tag Tuesday is encouraging us to make tags depicting our favorite things. I took this to mean in creating art. My background is one accidentally formed while spraying and painting another piece of art. It was my cover sheet on my desk top. This is one of my favorite ways to make backgrounds. The background has some of my favorite colors in it.

I am using my favorite stamp, which I have learned is of cow parsley, or something like that. The stamp is one I got from Stampinback. The text was added via Photoshop Elements, also one of my favorite things to create art with.

If I have time I may try to do another favorite thing tag later on today.

Gothic Arches - Open Theme

Gothic Arches has an open theme this week. I used several Dover images to make this digital gothic arch.

The stained glass was not gothic, but a circle head arch. I found a fleur-de-lis image that I made into the pointed part of the arch and attached. I cut out and used only the center part of the window. Then I took the innermost part of the window out and substituted a picture of a surveyor, also a Dover image.

TMTA - Herbs/Weeds

Herbs and Weeds is the theme for Think Monday Think ATCs. I saw this stamp on one of Femmy's works a year or so ago and she gave me the name of the company who makes it: Stampinback. I finally located it here in the US and have enjoyed using it so much. It is a wild flower (weed) whose name escapes me. It is similar to Queen Anne's lace, also a wild flower.

My background is a weed, in a way. It is the protective freezer paper that was protecting my desk during some of my spraying and dabbing for another project. I mounted the leftover paper onto cardstock and cut it to 2.5 x 3.5" size for my ATC today.

Make Your Own Designer Paper

My background was made using tissue paper and gesso on card stock, and then colored by pouncing with alcohol inks. This method (except using deli papers) is found HERE.

My flower is the same one that I used for a card two days ago but I have bent  the petals and leaves more. All parts of this flower were made with hearts and flowers punches.

This week's theme for the One Stop challenge is Make Your Own Designer Paper.

Theme Thursday - Bright Colors

Oh, I had fun with this one. Theme Thursday's theme is Bright Colors. Are these bright enough?

My flower is made with various sized heart punches. The small part in the middle is a special kind of flower punch, but everything else is hearts, including the leaves. I used pink card stock for the petals and touched up the edges with distress ink. I used brown kraft paper for the leaves, which I misted with green homemade mica mist. I edged the leaves with a green dye stamp. The sentiment was added digitally.

TIO -Steampunk

Having only the vaguest clue as to what steampunk means, I am entering this tag aware that I may have missed the boat. I used a background from freezer paper that had been serving as my craft sheet. I used graphics fairy and dover images. My stamps are Stampin' Up. In the spirit of steampunk (I hope) I have used a straightened out paper clip for my fastener.

Steampunk is the theme for this week's Tag it On!
