Time flies by, doesn't it? Here it is 2012 and so many things have changed in the last 100 years. My entry for
Rainbow Lady's Challenge is this digital card I made using my dh's great grandmother feeding her chickens. Raising chickens was an important activity in her time. She probably got to keep any money she got from selling the eggs. Sunday dinner was often one of the flock she had fed on Saturday. (Sorry, vegetarians, but that was the fact of life in the countryside.) I have added a few things to this photo (originally in black and white) such as the cat and the weeds in the foreground.

ReplyDeleteThis is just so wonderful and special, Faye! I'm loving it :) Until my dear sweet aunt passed away almost two years ago, at age 81, she raised chickens...some for eating, and some for eggs. Thank you for the sweet memory~~~

She fed those fat chickens pretty well, Faye. I'm sure they made for a good Sunday dinner. Here in Ukraine they still do that, but often it is a goose for dinner when a guest comes. We've been the blessed recipient of both home done dinners.
