We're Home!!!

After a wonderful vacation in northern Arkansas, away from the hustle and bustle of life here in central Virginia, we have made it home safely. One of the delightful things about the trip was the many fine people that we met. Mike and Rita are owners of Angels Retreat on the White River. Their guest cottage that we rented was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Now I have discovered that Rita has her own personal blog, FlyFishing4Faith. Visit it and discover a bit about fishing and a bit about life.

This is a picture of me fishing in the Norfork River, just below the dam. Can you tell that it was cold?

When I get all the dirty clothes from the almost three-week-long trip clean again, I'll begin doing some challenges. Right now life is getting in the way of art.

Created by Hand - Harvest

The theme for Created by Hand is harvest. I thought of the watercolor I had done of a farm in the harvesttime. I used a copy of it and put an image of a depression woman and her children and a few extras.

TMTA - Autumn

Autumn is the theme this week of Think Monday Think ATCs. Here is my version, using a background furnished by Art Creations Friday some time ago.

Traditionally, an ATC is a 2.5" x 3.5" trading card with art on it instead of sports figures. It began as a traded-only piece of art. Today I was saddened to learn that here in Arkansas some ATCs are sold, not traded. I am wondering if this is a trend that is universal or if it is a local thing. I was told that some ATCs done in oils bring $20 per card. Does this upset anyone else besides me?

Art Creations Friday

I'm still not able to have enough time on the computer to do commenting, so I'm not officially entering the Art Creations Friday challenge. I am using the beautiful image provided.

3 Muses - numerology

I am using this unusual and lovely background from an earlier arts creation friday challenge for this week's Three Muses' challenge, which is numerology. I have placed a picture of my mother in the foreground along with her date of birth.

Angel Wings

Wings is the theme for Theme Thursday. My dh and I halved a Klondike bar for dessert. The shiny heavy foil wrapper looked like it could be used for art.

I glued it to heavy card stock and dribbled, dabbed and wiped alcohol inks over the surface. Then I used the beautiful angel stamp that Laura, a fellow volunteer at the nursing home, gave to me.

I may be away from the computer for a few days so I may be late to comment on others' challenge entries.

Wednesday Stamper - bucket

When I heard the theme this week for Wednesday Stamper was "bucket" I thought of my oil painting of the old well and the buckets beside the pump. But I had to have a real live copy and my printer is printing everything blue. Our new printer hasn't yet been installed.

So I first changed the photo to B&W in photoshop elements. Then I printed off a copy. It is blue with hints of brown, as you can see. Then I stamped the Get Well Soon with brown StaZon ink.

I think it looks like dawn, probably the time the farmer's wife went to get water for breakfast.
