Revisiting Old "Friends"

Several years ago one of the homebound members of our

church returned to me all the hand painted cards I had sent

to her over the years. I was thrilled to be able to put them

onto some big rings and make a book of them. Here is

one of my favorites: Li'l Redhead at the Art Museum.

PPF - handmade background papers

I played around with doing background pages using stencils,

masks, stamps, inks, and embossing. This is my entry

for Paint Party Friday. Some of you have already

visited my blog and seen these during the week.

Craft Day with Laura

My craft buddy Laura came over to make pretty background

papers with me today. We each did three using stencils,

stamps, distress inks and embossing powders. Here is one

of mine. I used the same stencils as before.

New Background Paper

This was a single 8.5x11 piece of white card stock

that I sprayed, dabbed, stenciled, stamped and 

embossed. I already have plans for its use. Some

Christmas gifts, maybe.

New Card

Here is a card I made from scratch today with inks,

stamps, stencils, embossing powders, etc. The shiny

gold around the edges looks so elegant in real life.

Old Ledger made into a Scrapbook

I have an old ledger turned into a scrapbook by my great-grandmother 

and my grandmother. I think my mother added things toward the end.

It was fun to see the fashions. Take a look at that waist! I wonder if

real women looked like that or is this an artist's idea of perfection.

This is a small card drawn to look like a book. I am

showing this for its beautiful writing. The artist

is Belle Weir Reid, whose jardiniere I showed 

several months ago. She was my great grandfather's

sister, I believe. She loved to paint china and cards.

Christmas Cards

Here are two Christmas cards on white card stock 

that I have made for the church bazaar. Many of

the cards have hand painted, stenciled backgrounds.

My Li'l Redhead (whom I have neglected to draw for months)

is shown waving her little joy banner.

And here is a simple pencil sketch on the back of

a crossword puzzle. I tried to colorize her but my

computer froze up. Something happened last night

while I was googling and it froze big time then. I

was able to get it going but I think I need to try to

restore the disk/hard drive/??/ not sure what.
