Gothic Arch - Summer's End

This week's theme for Sunday gothic arches is the end of summer. I thought of the butterflies that have been with us this summer and how they are beginning to die out. I hate to see their wings all beat up by the time early September comes. So here is my tribute to the end of summer and the gorgeous butterflies that have been feasting on my buddleia bush just outside my kitchen window.
This arch was made using Sheer Heaven® and alcohol transfers. The images came from Dover Publications. I added a few flowers and leaves with my watercolor pencils for balance.

I Love Your Blog Award

Lisa and Ariane have honored me with the I Love Your Blog award. I am to give this award to seven other artists, let them know about their awards on their blogs, and link back to Ariane and Lisa. Thanks, Ariane and Lisa. This is such an honor. So many talented artists to choose from. A difficult decision. Here are seven of my favorite blogs:

New Product/Tag

Created by Hand has its theme this week: Something you've never tried before. Crazy Amigo has its theme: Tags. Well, I've never done a tag before so I am entering both challenges with my flourishy angel stamped tag. I also have never used this crazy yarn before that I have as a ribbon on my tag. My background is Moon Glow mist in the color of Buccaneer Blue.

Gothic Arches - Black, White & Red

The Sunday Gothic Arches this week has challenged us to do an art piece of black and white, with just a touch of red. I chose to do a zentangles arch on glossy black cardstock and white pen. The touch of red is a heart shaped brad.

Distress/Vintage/Dream

Crazy Amigo has as a challenge theme this week: Distress/Vintage. Created by Hand's theme is Dream. I was able to combine the two themes by using this beige card stock that I distressed with Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink and some fuchsia Moon Glow mist. I wrote "Dream" in the same way my mother would have written it, with the igloo-type R.

Sunday Gothic Arches

Today's Gothic Arches challenge theme is Renaissance. I had made this ATC a while back and had recently made it into a greetings card. I believe it fits the theme. Isn't that a Gothic arch on that church? But to make sure I added a thin line arch in garnet embossing powder. Both the backgrounds are handmade. They were paper I put down to protect my desk while I was spraying and misting alcohol inks and Moon Glow mists.

Theme Thursday - Marie Antoinette

The challenge for Theme Thursday this week is: Marie Antoinette. I've always wondered if she really was as heartless as the history books portrayed her. Or did she just get bad press? This background is the one I used with the Journey entry on Tuesday. It has so much silver and glitter on it that I just had to use it with Marie.

Created By Hand - Journey

Today's challenge for Created by Hand is Journey. This background looked like the ocean to me and the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Ocean. Other entries in this challenge are found at CBH.
