This week's theme for Sunday gothic arches is the end of summer. I thought of the butterflies that have been with us this summer and how they are beginning to die out. I hate to see their wings all beat up by the time early September comes. So here is my tribute to the end of summer and the gorgeous butterflies that have been feasting on my buddleia bush just outside my kitchen window. This arch was made using Sheer Heaven® and alcohol transfers. The images came from Dover Publications. I added a few flowers and leaves with my watercolor pencils for balance.
Oh, I'm with you on the butterflies. It's like they are the precursor to the leaves with their beat-up wings. This has been a wonderful summer for them though. Beautiful tribute.
