Painted Papers

This week instead of painting flowers or faces I painted background papers to use for greetings cards. I started with brown grocery bag paper, soaked it, scrunched it, soaked it and scrunched it again. After flattening it out  I applied various shimmery and bright colored acrylic paints. I used a brayer lightly to connect the colors so that no brown bag showed. Too much brayer-ing and the colors would turn to mud. While the paint was still wet I dropped mini beads, glitter and glitter glue onto the surface. I sprayed them with hairspray to set the PearlEx I also added to the paints. The tan that looks like bag color is really a pinkish brown, formed by mixing a pink acrylic paint with a rust color one. I used too much paint. Next time the paint will be thinner so the colors are more distinct. This technique was borrowed from the blog of Sally T - HERE. I am posting these for Paint Party Friday challenge.

Li'l Redhead's Valentine

Here is my Li'l Redhead holding her valentine card.
I am entering this in Mandarin Orange Monday challenge.
Li'l Redhead is a child I invented, based on my lovely redheaded
granddaughter, who is now 24. Li'l Redhead will always be a child.
I've made many different paintings of Li'l Redhead through the years.

Painting for PPF and TAW

Here is my watercolor of an older lady.
I am entering her in Take a Word - Wrinkles.
Here is a young woman dressed for winter.
Both of these were made while watching reruns
of Castle and NCIS on TV this week. I am having
trouble with my knee and I am limiting my trips up
and down the stairs. My art room is upstairs so I am
doing these in a journal using my pan watercolors
travel set. It is a challenge to make anything worth viewing.
I am entering this post in the Paint Party Friday challenge.

Word Art Wednesday

Water, wherever it is found, is so refreshing.
I love to hear the water rushing by as I fly fish.
Here is a watercolor painting I made a few years ago
of a lady flyfisher. I have digitally added today's scripture
and will enter this into Word Art Wednesday challenge.

Watercolor Doodle in New Journal

Here is a watercolor that I doodled while watching TV.
I used a pad of mixed media 90# paper. Because the
paper has no "tooth", the application of paint felt very
different from normal watercolor paper. I will use this
for making a greetings card. I am entering it in the
Paint Party Friday challenge week 44, year 2.

Word Art Wednesday

Here is my entry for the 1/9/13  Word Art Wednesday Challenge.
I started with an ATC I had made some time ago,
scanned it to the computer, and enlarged it to card
size. I digitally added the red border and the heart.
The scripture was also added digitally.
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and
renew a right spirit within me."
Psalm 51:10
