Just Babies

These sweet children are some of my ancestors, the Weir children, who lived in a more innocent time. At that time assault rifles and other arms were not used on little ones in America.

I feel so sad about the tragic murders in Connecticut. I did years of substitute teaching. My very favorite classes were the kindergarten and first grade ones. Those that age are so eager to learn and so desirous of pleasing their elders. To think that all those Sandy Hook children's lives were cut short is totally reprehensible and sad beyond words.

Paper Minutes - Arrows

This piece was made especially for the Paper Minutes Challenge.
I used an arrow weather vane image from Graphics Fairy. My background
is decorative vintage cardstock. The flowers are stick-ons on foam dots.
The text was added digitally.

Homemade Stickers from Watercolor Flower Painting

A couple of years ago I painted this poinsettia with watercolors. I needed some stickers this week to use in our craft club at the nursing home. I took my poinsettia, reduced the size with Photoshop Elements, and printed them off on a sheet of big labels. the downside was that I had to cut them out by hand, but it was worth it. They were a big hit. It's Friday and time to visit the talented artists at Paint Party Friday.

WAW #56 & PPF #38

This is a background painted in acrylic paints with some rubbing gold wax added. I outlined some parts with white gel pen. After painting a couple of things and rubbing them back off, I decided to smear some gesso over part of it. Then I digitally added the scripture given to us by Word Art Wednesday.

Just on a whim, I used my Photoshop Elements to invert the colors. This is far more dramatic than the original coloration. I am entering this in Word Art Wednesday. This is the only painting I have done this week since I'm busy wrapping Christmas gifts for mailing and writing notes in my Christmas cards. So I am also going to enter this in the Paint Party Friday #38 too.

Paint Party Friday - two entries

I feel like this is not a legitimate entry since I have only a little of paint in this post. The boxes are hand stamped and constructed of 2 pieces of cardstock each. I am showing only four of the ones I made. Inside are the Christmas gifts for the wonderful ladies in the Bible study class I lead each week.

Tonight our granddaughter who is doing research for her PhD in Chemistry at Cal Berkeley called us to wish us Happy Thanksgiving. Before I knew it I had doodled this girl, which I later painted with watercolors. I decided that I'd show this off at Paint Party Friday.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to All!

Psalm 34:1 is the theme scripture for this week's
