Animals for PPF

The watercolor class assignment was a goat.

And at home I painted my son's cat Bob.

I worked in my art journal at Saturdays mixed media class.

Paint Party Friday

Watercolor class started back up with 8 new students, none

of whom had ever painted before. That left four of us on our own

since the teacher had to explain the basics to the newbies. She 

gave us a photo of a water lily to paint. Here is mine.

Then I did a few faces, mostly in watercolor, 

Then finally, I made a hand puppet for the children's

Sunday school activity this Sunday. They are  studying

how Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery.
(Genesis 37 - 45)

With the Yahoo security breach, I have tried to change my password.
So far it does not accept my new password and I have to keep
getting in by getting a "key" from Yahoo.

Two Cats

For various reasons I did not have any art class in the last week.

I also did not do much painting, just a lot of greetings cards

using the Big Kick. Here are two cats I painted on Strathmore 

watercolor cards. I am joining Paint Party Friday with these.

This 'n' That

I used my art time this week playing with my new Big Kick,

and the new dies I have gotten recently. I made a number of

greetings cards and had friend Laura over to make cards.

However I did work in my mixed media journal and 

my double spread pages are below. The exercise was to

alter a face found in a magazine ad. I chose one from Macy's.

Maybe you will recognize the ad; maybe not.

Hint:  she has dark hair and dark eyes in the original ad.

using the Frugal Crafter's video and technique.

Paint Party Friday

Watercolor class is over for a short while but I've been

working on a few things at home. I am posting them

on Paint Party Friday's blog.

Here is a rock/creek scene done after watching the

Frugal Crafter's video. I didn't follow her painting exactly.

Next is a beagle I painted. I am not able to draw animals.

This one was copied from a book on dogs. I sent it as a card to 

my next door neighbor who loves dogs.

I did a couple of very quick splashes of color, 

which I turned into flowers on greeting cards.

And lastly I am showing a card I made using my

new die cutting machine. The swirl was cut from

Ghirardelli® candy packaging.

Where did the Time go this Week?

It seems impossible that it is time for Paint Party Friday

again. My, how fast this week has flown by. Thanks to

Eva and Kristin for hosting this amazing party each week.

Last Saturday we worked in our journals in Jo's

mixed media class at A C Moore.  Here is what I did:

Today Laura came to do crafts with me.

We made a lot of die cuts for her to use in making cards.

Then we painted.

A  watercolor I made today.

Hot, Humid Weather!

When it's too hot and humid to be outside, having a

place and the time to do art is a lifesaver!

This week's watercolor class was not a success for me.

I saw a few of the other students just taking off on

their own, not trying to follow the photo or sketch

that the instructor provided. The sketch was done in

very light pencil and copied so it was undecipherable.

The photo didn't look sharp to me but it may have been

my eyes. I made an attempt in class. Then I came home

and made mine into a pen and ink plus watercolor,

instead of just the watercolor painting.

My luncheon turned out to be a big success with the

ladies loving their bookmarks that I had made.

Sorry I missed last week but I really was too tired

to visit so I decided to skip the party at Paint Party Friday.

However, here is one last watercolor done in last week's class.

sister in Arkansas.

When I saw our class project in the Watercolor Class Monday,

I cringed. It was an animal we were painting. A ram. The main object 

of that lesson was getting the wool to look soft and fluffy.

Other than that and the phone doodle below, I didn't do much

art this week except for making greetings cards.

The kaleidoscope  painting below was something

I created in my mixed media (acrylics) class for my journal.

She wanted us to design a mandala. Since I am not

"into" mandalas, I am calling this a kaleidoscope image.

 I did make a load of bookmarks for my Bible study ladies
who will be coming to my house for lunch in a week.
Here is what I made. They were very labor intensive,
much more than they appear to be.

And finally a WIP of my daughter-in-law's. She is making
this steppingstone for a wedding gift. She poured the
cement and embedded this silver picture frame of a
car and the "jewels". She is going to draw a bride and groom
inside the car and put their first names on the steppingstone.
