Keeping Busy

October 30 is the day before Halloween for most people.
To me it is the anniversary date for my dh's "homecoming".
Two years. Sometimes it seems like yesterday. I am
beginning to forge a new normal life. I am so thankful
he let me be me and encouraged me in whatever I
wanted to do. I am grateful to God for allowing us
to have 56 years together. I am also so thankful for
the friends I have made on Paint Party Friday. You
have helped keep me sane while allowing me to
learn from you.  I love my visits to your blogs.

Below are some things that I have been working on.
The watercolor flower was used in a greetings card.
The first acrylic paint face is a WIP for Jo's class,
where Connie is helping us learn to do portraits.
the second one is something I tried on canvas.

PPF - Oct. 23

This week I started cleaning out my attic and found an interesting
folder from some conference center. The paper of the folder was
similar to watercolor paper but with big "pores". I did a couple
of small paintings on it to see if it would work. The results
are my entry for Paint Party Friday this week.

While tossing old greetings cards, I found this photo
nestled in among the cards. It is a 60 year old shot
of my future husband and me taken at a dance at
my college. I think I remember the dress was blue.
I know that I had had to borrow one.

Barn

I didn't do much art this week so I am not really
attending the PPF as thoroughly as I usually do. However, I did
do a barn painting in watercolor. I love doing clouds.

And here is another intuitive watercolor that
I have made into a greetings card.

PPF

This is a intuitive watercolor and pen/ink
piece I made to give away in the
Art Abandonment Project.
This is my entry for PPF this week.

Another Fun Art Play Day

Another art day with Laura at my house.
First we played with alcohol inks on glossy
cardstock, blowing the inks with air through
drinking straws. Then we switched over
to watercolors. The first 3 are mine and
the last one is Laura's. I still haven't got
the hang of painting birds yet. I think I
can paint but not draw very well. That could
be the problem. Anyway, this is my
contribution to Paint Party Friday.

Foam Board Painting

Last Saturday in the Mixed Media class, Jo gave us each
a 12"x30" piece of foam board to play with. I have done
an acrylic paint rendition of a skirt a friend wore to church
a couple of weeks ago. I tried mainly to capture the colors
and think I got pretty close. My painting looks much more
like the skirt than I can make it show up on my blog.
Below is the skirt. This is my entry for Paint Party Friday.
I think I could have put more dark green in my painting,
but at this point I could easily ruin it by overworking it.
I'll probably just leave it as it is.

Art for Paint Party Friday

This poppy was done by looking at the example
in the book by Wendy Tait called Watercolour Flowers.
She had tracings of her flowers, which I did not use, but
she encouraged new painters to use them. I followed her
step by step instructions and came up with this poppy.

This is a background that I made in the class I take
on Saturdays, taught by Joanna. I used part of a
newspaper flyer to do this, first coating it with gesso.

I made this Christmas card using stencils
and acrylic paints. It has lots of shiny areas.

These are my entries for Paint Party Friday.

Altered Book Plus

I did a little work in my altered book this week. I have
about half dozen double pages to go till it is done.
This quote by Busch says:
"Good art is a form of prayer. It's a way to say the unsayable."
Thanks to Jo for the neat quote.

And here are a couple of watercolors I made.

Visit Paint Party Friday to see some really wonderful art.
