Blog Anniversary

Nine years ago today I started this blog on
Blogspot and I dedicated it to my deceased
black lab Mitzi.

Before that I had a blog on Wordpress,
which I began in 2003.

Busy Times

Our watercolor class dabbled in paraffin this week to make
areas of resist in our paintings Here are two that I did,
which I cut into pieces to make several cards.

Showing my finished canvas in the embroidery frame
as it looks in my living room.

Here is a quick sunset painting.

and here I am using the above painting to enter

And lastly, something that was pure play:
watercolors, wax, acrylics, Stickles, ink pen, etc.

Life is so busy that I may not be able to join the
wonderful Paint Party Friday again until after
the Christmas holidays. So I am wishing all my
blog buddies Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Horse

This is the watercolor project for the week.
My sister from Arkansas visited so I didn't do much art.
I'm posting this on Paint Party Friday.

Thanksgiving Day in the USA

Here I am stuffed from too much food, but it was so good.
My daughter-in-law is the best cook in this area so
it is always such a treat to have her cooking.

Here is the class project for this week. The first one
is what I did in class. The second one was done at home.

Last Saturday we made wall paper in mixed media class.
The first one was made in class; the second one at home.
Correction: I meant wrapping paper, not wall paper!!!

Here is my journal I finished a while back. I don't think
I have shown the cover I did.

Last week I showed my hoop art - cloth caught up
in an embroidery hoop and painted with acrylics.
This week I am showing a close up. I still have
to trim the edges and glue them underneath.

There is so much talent at Paint Party Friday.
Be sure to drop by and leave comments so
the artists will know you have been there.

Watercolors and Mixed Media

Here is what we worked on in watercolor class this week.
I drew mine slightly larger than the photo the teacher provided.

Next I am showing my fabric in the embroidery hoop,
painted in mixed media class on Saturday. I am still not
finished with it. Getting closer.

Lastly, here is a rerun, except I have now added text.
This is one of the Christmas cards I am sending out.
I had painted the poinsettias earlier. Now I have
printed it out on glossy paper to attach to cardstock.
I don't know where that black line came from. It is
not on the cards!  Joining in for fun at Paint Party Friday.

Mostly New Art

Here is the class project from last Monday:

Here is our homework assignment: find 3 leaves and
paint a picture of them. These are painted in watercolors.

And I changed hair and skin color on an old painting:

This elderly lady is Francine Christophe, a Holocaust
survivor. You can hear her story HERE . I did this
watercolor a year ago so it is a rerun.

A final note here: the cards sold well last Saturday
at the church bazaar. It was a fun time.

For some very fine artwork visit Paint Party Friday.

Paint Party Friday

This week has really flown by, just like the tons of leaves
falling off my trees, some just brown not even yellow or red.

My visit with my daughter last week was much too short,
but it was absolutely a wonderful time for me.
She repaired stuff, changed smoke alarm batteries, etc.
And I think she enjoyed the time here, too.

My contributions to Paint Party Friday this week are below:

Mixed media fabric in an embroidery hoop - WIP

My two watercolor versions of a sunset video by The Frugal Crafter:
One uses phthlo blue, pyrol red and new gamboge.
The other one uses  ultramarine blue, permanent rose, and hansa yellow.

A quick watercolor of a face:

and my cards that will be in the church bazaar this Saturday.
Proceeds go to the church's missions.
