Word Art Wednesday

Here is my entry for the 1/9/13  Word Art Wednesday Challenge.

I started with an ATC I had made some time ago,  

scanned it to the computer, and enlarged it to card

size. I digitally added the red border and the heart.

The scripture was also added digitally.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and

renew a right spirit within me."

Psalm 51:10

Take a Word Challenge

I am borrowing some freebies from ACF, which is no longer a challenge

(the girl image and the background). The painting of the flower is one of

my watercolors that I have skewed and added digitally. The quote from

Pablo Picasso says: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to 

remain an artist once he grows up." This is my entry for Take a Word.

Art Journal Journey

This is my entry for Art Journal Journey, where the theme is Crowns. 

I don't know why all the faces I am doing lately turn out to be pretty homely. 

This was done in my mini journal given to me by my granddaughter.

Artful Times and Paper Minutes

Here is my card I have made for 2 challenges:

Artful Times and Paper Minutes.

For Artful Times the challenge is to use at least 2 embossing folders.

They are done on the same kind of paper except one has been

scraped with sandpaper to reveal the center white core.

For Paper Minutes the challenge is to show eisblumen, which

are the little frosted flower shaped crystals that form in the winter.

I used my snowflake embossing folder to make an ice flower design.

Using the Monoprint

I took 2 of my monoprints I made today, reduced the opacity of one to about 40%.

I used Photoshop Elements and inverted the colors of the second print. Then I

combined the two digitally, added the items in white and deep gray-purple.

Many artists have chosen the word "focus" as their word for the new year.

Although I need to learn to focus in life, I think I need to diversify in my art.

Gel-style Monoprint Experiment

I have been noticing artists using a new (to me) product called Gelli Plates.

After reading about it, I decided to try my hand at monoprinting by using a

homemade gel sheet. I needed a recipe but I just winged it and left it in the

refrigerator for several days to dry out a bit.  I used Folk Art red clay for the first

step and yellow green acrylic paint for the second step. Making the print was fun

but it was a little messier than I am comfortable with. Also, the homemade

gelatin tears and makes holes so a plastic gel plate would certainly be better.

But I can use my prints as backgrounds for some other art, I think.

Paint Party Friday - acrylic painting

She looks a little bit like Lily Tomlin's Ernestine, my lady in acrylics paints.

This was fun to do, using my new paints and brushes from my granddaughter.

Maybe I'll get the hang of this medium after more practice. I am entering

this 8.5"x11" painting in Paint Party Friday challenge for this week.

(The blues have more green in them but I couldn't get it to scan right.)

Word Art Wednesday - TRUST

I am combining this very recent photo of my backyard with the Word Art Wednesday challenge's beautiful scripture from Psalm 118. If anything knows about trusting their Maker, it is this herd of deer.
