Saturday's Workout Chalk

The theme chosen for this week's Saturday Workout is "Chalk it, Baby," where we use chalk.
The hummingbird is on  the front of a greetings card I made. For the bird I used a brass template and soft pastel chalks. The leaves and flowers were hand drawn using the same pastels.
Other artwork using all kinds of chalk is at the SW website. I couldn't resist doing another pastel. The top piece is the one I did second.  I used an ATC sized piece of white watercolor paper and tinted it pink, salmon, and tan with pastel chalks. I stamped with Photo Distress ink the image of a young woman. It gives her a peachy look.

Thursday Theme - Girls

This 4x4 features a lovely background on vellum that I received from Judy in Illinois in a RAK package she sent me. The beautiful redhead is my granddaughter as a toddler. I was reminded of the old saying my mother used to repeat: "What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of." Take a peek at the other Girls entries.

Tuesday Created By Hand Fabric

This is an ATC I did earlier using a "flimmer" from Patty. the background is Glossy Accents that has been rubbed with gold. The lavender is watercolors. The cloth on the ATC is a piece of a crocheted doily.  Other entries can be seen at this site.

Saturday's Workout Linen

Saturday's Workout theme this week is Linen. I used a gauze pad to make a linen-like image for the background. The quote is "Taking joy in life is a woman's best cosmetic" by Rosalind Russell.

Theme Thursday Tea or Coffee

Thursday's Theme this week is Tea or Coffee. I thought immediately of the tea ceremony my dh attended on one of his many trips to Japan during his career as a technical manager at a chemical company. This 4x4 collage is made up of a background I had made of alcohol inks and metallic mixatives, a green tea packet, and a photo taken at the above tea ceremony.

The small characters in silver say "Kyoto District Valley Authority Pine Northern Tea Store." The medium silver characters say  "sheared tea."  In front of her face, the characters say "bagged village authority tea." The large silver character is the name of the store.  The characters at the bottom in black say "tea ceremony."

Other interpretations of the theme Tea or Coffee can be found at  Theme Thursday.

Tuesday 4x4 with Charm

Tuesday's Created By Hand challenge is to make a piece of art - our choice of type - using a charm. I have an Adirondack alcohol inked 4x4 photo paper. The flower stamp by Rubber Stampede and the Ranger silver ink pad made the foreground. The charm is a dragonfly.

Gothic Arches - Chair

The challenge for Gothic Arches this week is to use a chair in our art. I found a picture of two middle-aged men smoking cigars. They were posed in chairs facing each other. I really did not want to use that one. Then I remembered the 1909 photo of my mother when she was 9 months old, sitting up in an adult chair. By the time I got everything situated on the ATC, you can barely see the chair, but you can see the pretty baby! Take a peek at the other entries in this challenge.

Vintage Bride 4x4 Friday

Today's 4x4 Friday challenge is to use a vintage bride in our art work. I am using one of the Hearts in Touch stamps Judy gave me. The background paper, already dry embossed with swirls and flowers, is some I bought in a packet.
