More Art from the Watercolor Class

First, on Monday we painted the horse sketch the teacher handed out.
It was to be painted in any color other than a horse color. I chose
colors that I like, phthlo blue, permanent rose, and new gamboge yellow.

Then we picked photos from her stack of personal photos
to try to paint. I chose a young woman's portrait photo.
It turned out to be her granddaughter. I wish I had known
that before I started because it turned out not to look
like the granddaughter (older and not as pretty!).

Then during the week I did a few flowers with pencils
and some backgrounds with alcohol inks on glossy paper.

These are my this week's offerings for Paint Party Friday.

Last pages of Altered Book

Although I still have to collage the front and back covers of my
altered book, I did finish the last pages in Jo's Saturday Mixed Media class.

And here is a watercolor I did in Monday's class:

These are my entries into Paint Party Friday.

Art for first week of February

The first two are from my altered book in acrylic paints.
I only have a double page to go plus the outside covers.
What looks like a white angel in the first photo is
not an angel at all. It is the glare from the camera flash.

This one says: He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the LORD. Ps.40:3

This one says: Blessed are they who see beautiful things
in humble places where other people see nothing.
Camille Pisarro

This is a watercolor I did this week using one of my
dh's photos from an Alaskan fishing trip.

I am joining the Paint Party Friday with these entries
and posting early while the computer is operating fairly
well. It has really acted up today. I'm afraid it will freeze
up at any time now!

This 'n' That Art

Well, I did lose power for overnight on Saturday/Sunday but
my house stayed fairly warm and I just went to bed early.
Wednesday was the first day I could get out of my
driveway. The first few yards out of the garage
were definitely the worst. Here are some photos:

I did do a little art but not much. I am trying to clear
out some of the tons of papers that my dh had kept
from when he was president or chairman of so many
organizations in the community and the church. So
that work has occupied most of my time this week.
These are my entries for Paint Party Friday.

A spread from my altered book.

a greetings card.

a WIP using Silvia's post as an example.
I hope you will click on the link and check
out what a beautiful art piece Silvia (Barnie)
has made using this technique that she'
learned from Rosie Klein's blog, and
especially from the wonderful video by Susanne Rose.

I did not have the powdered pigments (Brushos) and tried
to use some re-inkers. It did not work very well.

Lastly, I saw that followers are decreasing. On a blog I
found the reason why. Here is how to understand what
is happening if your list of followers decreases:

Pages from my altered Book

These pages were done in the Saturday Mixed Media class
taught by Jo at the A. C. Moore store on Patterson Avenue.
I am showing them on Paint Party Friday, hosted by
Kristin and Eva.

We are due to have a gigantic snowstorm
tomorrow through Sunday. If I lose power, I won't be
able to get around to visit until later next week. Oh,
how I hope that storm is not as bad as "they" say it will be!

The above reads: Jennifer, new to city living, felt stressed
when she couldn't find a cab and somewhat anxious about
walking the ten blocks she had to go to get to work.

The above reads: No matter where I wander, no matter where I roam,
No matter where I end up, there's no place like home.

The above reads: shop till you drop.

Paint Party Friday

Showing this week's watercolors. I did go to  Jo's
mixed media class Saturday and worked on my
altered book/journal using acrylics. Maybe I
will have some of those to show next week.
This is for Paint Party Friday, generously
hosted by Eva and Kristin.

Happy New Year to all the PPF artists

Here are a few things I've been working on this week.
I'm checking them in at the Paint Party Friday.
The bromeliad was done watching a video by
the Frugal Crafter.

And today my friend Laura came over and we painted.
Here is what I did on a 7" square scrap of mat board.
Yes, another hibiscus.

and a sunset greetings card…
