Journaling Experience

A week ago, I met Jo, one of the artists on Paint Party Friday. How weird that in this international art group, one of the artists lives 20 minutes from my house. Today I attended her class on journaling at the crafts store. I am a rank beginner and seem to have very little natural ability at journaling. You would think that someone who has worked for 3 newspapers and has written newspaper articles and one magazine article would be able to do this. However, I can never think of text to put with the art. I made a journal and I am showing the cover and one page. Obvious I need help!

Gelli Prints and Cards

Today I got my Gelli plate in the mail. Before 2 hours passed,
I discovered that newsprint will stay on the plate if you lay
the plate on newsprint, even for just a few minutes!
I also found that my stencils are fragile, especially when being cleaned.

I also discovered that I am not very good at this but it was fun.
And the results aren't too bad. I am posting these for Paint Party Friday.

Here is a card I made from a watercolor pencil piece.

This card is part of last week's PPF entry.
The bird is a die cut from K&Co.

Paint Party Friday - non traditional mixed media

My entry for the Paint Party Friday challenge this week is a
mixed media type of art. I have used a background I made
with watercolor pencils on the wrong side of some cheap
watercolor paper. The lavender flowers are really from a
photo of my phlox, but please pretend you are seeing
rhododendrons. The birds were done in black ink pen.

All the giveaway books and cards have been sent to
the winners except for the two that I do not have
mailing addresses for:

Carol Samsel
Lisa Richards

Giveaway Winners

My son was my unbiased, independent name drawer for the giveaway.
There were two  participants whose names were drawn who both
wanted the figure drawing book. I had to take the first one
that my son drew (Arnoldo). The second person will be given a book from
my personal library (Jo). For the museum books the winners were Margie
and Jinxxygirl. Please winners, send me an email with your addresses.
Lisa Richards wanted ATCs so they will be sent to her.

Winners, please be patient with me as it will take some planning to
wrap and send these books.

There were only three other entrants in the giveaway. I would like
to send a handmade thank you card to you if you will send me
your address via email:

Just a little Bit of Art & Book Giveaway

Not a whole lot of art this week.
Below are two phone doodles:

And here is a card I made, using Distress Ink pads,
an embossing folder and some K&Co die cuts.

I have some old drawing books to give away. If you
are interested in figure drawing or in one of the museum
art books, leave a comment and let me know. You will
be added to the drawing to be held Saturday night at 8 EDT.
You can see the photo of the books HERE.
Because of the weight, I will have to limit the sending
of the books to places in the USA.

Happy Paint Party Friday and thanks to Kristin and Eva.

Word Art Wednesday

I have superimposed (digitally) a watercolor of plants
over an oil painting I had stored on the computer.
I am entering this in Word Art Wednesday.

My help comes from the LORD
who made heaven and earth.

Books to Give Away

If anyone would like to have one of these books, please
leave a comment and which book you would like.  I am
limiting this to USA artists due to the weight of the books.
The Museum books, which are over 50 years old have a
number of prints of famous paintings. The drawing book
was published in 1969, has 160 pages with 132 illustrations.
These were my mother-in-law's and have her name in them.

I also have many, many ATCs from swaps of years ago.
If anyone is interested in owning some of them, let me know.
Some are very rudimentary; others pretty good. I will make 3
packets of cards, which I will send out to anyone anywhere in
the world. Later on I will have another drawing for more of the ATCs.

I will get my son to help with the drawing, which will take
place on Saturday, August 2, 8:00 p.m. EDT.
