For Christmas my granddaughter gave me a set of natural paint powders in four colors - red, blue, yellow, and green. The powders were made from berries, vegetables, spices, and fruits. I have made a few tentative small paintings using them. So far I don't quite have the hang of things, but I think I may be getting a bit better. The above is a painting without drawing first so don't look for perfection! The paints stay sticky for quite a while and have the consistency of syrup. Well, mine did, anyway. Maybe I used too little water to powder ratio. I was trying to get the paints more vivid but I think they will be pastels. I am entering this in the Paint Party Friday challenge for the first week of 2014.

ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful granddaughter. The natural paints are very environmentally sound, and my mind is travelling around thinking of the ingredients for each colour. They provide pretty, soft colours for a lovely painting, which certainly is far from imperfect. And who looks for perfection? All we need is enjoyment in the creating and viewers who can appreciate what is being done and how it is being created - and the artist's spirit behind the image. May you enjoy many hours of creativity in 2014.
