For most of the week I thought this chair sketched in watercolor
pencils and then dampened might be my only entry to Paint Party
Friday this week. However, while "watching" TV, I was able to
get this rose done. I am having trouble getting the computer screen to
display the color correctly. Dila, a very talented photographer and oil painter,
has allowed me to use her most beautiful photo of a rose to paint my
interpretation in watercolors and watercolor pencils. I have included
her photograph. Please check out her blog.

The chair is neat, Faye...but that rose is gorgeous!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Faye: I both LOVE the chair (interesting that you dampened it and it still stayed so crisp and beautiful and not smeary) and that rose - my gosh - the photography looks fantastic! I thought it was THE photograph at first then saw the photograph and was mesmerized how similar you got it. For me, this is an incredible piece of art and accomplishment. I hope you are SOOOOO proud! As for that 3rd child, I hear you about the first and second. I think for me Faye, it was the difference of being 29 and 32 and then 41. At 41 I was a single mom and was able to decide "how" to do it my way - unencumbered - and also to call upon the other two for what I screwed up and what I didn't. Often the advice was unsolicited, which at times was difficult. I thought they would make awful parents because they wanted me to be SO strict with Taylor yet they loved that I was so lenient with them - funny how that goes. Being an "old" mom, I was - meh, a cold. meh, a tantrum (times 10 relaxed), meh, they are staring at how I parent - bugger off, meh, who cares what he wears out - and all this did affect him. But having said that, who knows what he will turn out like. Will he call me when he goes to University or will he be like my (like your girl) and in her first year say "stop calling me so I can have a social life!" omg I nearly died! Then, like the elastic bank theory - they came back. Now I am dealing with feeling like I am losing my 29 year old boy to his wife. I am jealous, I admit it, and I know it is a phase, so I plan on snatching the grandkids when they come and my DIL (daughter in love) tells me she is going to Fed Ex them to me anyway!!!! lol lol Sometimes you can't win Faye, whether it is just a husband and no kids, one, two or three kids. I am now a DT on a blog (going back to DTing after quitting 10 6 months ago - but only to ones that REALLY pull my heart strings) and her husband is one of 21 and she is an only child. Imagine that structure as husband and wife!!!! Oy! I think you and I did splendidly, besides, girls are very different than our boy children - it truly is just so - even though we really work to stamp our sexism to a huge degree! It is useless saying men are the same as women so I think it is bizarre to say girls are like boys...my view only! Faye, thanks for opening up to me. I hope I haven't over burdened YOU! Lovies, Samara p.s. you did ministerial work? I am a D.Min, Chaplain and Minister. Nice co-incidence! xox
