Bandana Art

This was made by stamping the flourishes with 

black ink onto the aqua card. Then I used the 

white gel pen to accent some of the swirls.

Playing with Mica Paints and Sprays

 These backgrounds were originally part of the same creation.

I used everything shiny I could find including Pearl Ex which

I rubbed onto the surface and sprayed with hair spray to set. 

The butterflies are part of a set I had made earlier (see here).

The mermaid was drawn onto white card stock and colored 

with Prismacolor pencils. Both will be used as greetings cards.

New Card with Textured Background

 

I had this background sitting around in my stash. I don't know when I sprayed,

embossed, stamped, etc. it. I also had some card stock I had used lots of mica

sprays on so I cut out a butterfly. Actually I did several butterflies and will be

showing them off in my post for Paint Party Friday.

Cool Fun on a very hot Day

This background was painted on card stock using Lumiere paints

and other acrylics paints, plus 2 of my favorite stamps.

   

Here I have used one of the filters in the Photoshop  Elements.

And yet another filter

Another face in watercolors and watercolor pencils.

I played around with petals and leaves, a folded card stock,

a concrete surface and a good hammer. Pounded flowers

is such a fun, spontaneous art form. Flowers used are marigolds, 

marigold leaves, tomato leaves, buddleia, several varieties of coleus,

petunia petals, salvia petals and barberry leaves.

Another pounded flower creation except this one is on

watercolor paper and no buddleia.

ACC Blended Batik - a la Tim Holtz

This card was done for the Artekarten Challenge, 

using the method Tim Holtz designed in his book,

Compendium of Curiosities. It is called Blended Batik.

Busy Week's Quick Paintings

For most of the week I thought this chair sketched in watercolor

pencils and then dampened might be my only entry to Paint Party

Friday this week. However, while "watching" TV, I was able to

get this rose done. I am having trouble getting the computer screen to 

display the color correctly. Dila, a very talented photographer and oil painter,

has allowed me to use her most beautiful photo of a rose to paint my

interpretation in watercolors and watercolor pencils. I have included 

her photograph. Please check out her blog.

Using Ann's Window

Ann Hyde showed some marvelous photos and offered

artists the opportunity to use them to paint from. I have 

used a photo of an old window. I am entering this in

Paint Party Friday.

I'm adding a rose I sketched today in watercolor pencils.

Here is the sketch after I applied a damp brush to the sketch.

Word Art Wednesday - July 3

Several years ago, a friend at church and I were asked to do murals on a double roomed 

Sunday school classroom for the children. We both did work on all of them. This one is 

mostly mine, although Pat painted the wonderful hot air balloons. I am entering this in 

this week's Word Art Wednesday challenge.

The scripture for this week is Psalm 33:12.

Blessed is the nation 

whose God is the Lord,

and the people whom

he hath chosen

for his own inheritance.
